There really isn't that much conflict at all, at least no more than any other scientific field. Most of the "conflicts" are misunderstandings on the part of the public; for example, most people believe there was a paradigm clash between behaviorism and cognitivism. In reality, there was no clash as there is no conflict between the two - cognitivism is simply an extension of behaviorism. Now behaviorists and cognitivists work together on the same problems and reach the same conclusions.

Yeah that website's description of behaviorism was really pretty poor. There's a Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy article on behaviorism as well which is terrible, so stay away from that. If you can, I recommend you try to get your hands on "Understanding Behaviorism" by William Baum.
