Sounds like to me you are doing things right. One thing to always keep in mind is that you are the expert when it comes to your kid. Only you will know what's best. I know it is a lot at first, but you can definitely do this. Also I know you said you've already taken in a lot of info, but there is a book a highly recommend that I think you should check out. It helped me a lot when understanding everything myself. Sort of unrelated, but if it turns out that your SS is on the autism spectrum, I highly recommend this book. I think it explains autism in a way that helps people understand it a lot better and offers some advice.
