I suspect that the materials that the roof is made of are interfering with the signal. I have that same antenna setup in a spare bedroom, with the blinds open, and receive signals down to 36db with a Winegard LNA-100 Amplifier (I receive UHF and VHF-HI down to this level). You should be receiving dozens of channels given your TVFool report. I would first unplug the coax from the antenna and see what channels you receive with just the coax wire plugged into the HDHR. This should let you know if there is an issue with the antenna. I would test it twice, each time with a different end of the cable plugged into the HDHR because one of the ends of the cable could be bad. Then check the connections on the antenna to make sure they are all tight, you don't want to crank on the screws but ensure there aren't loose connections. The antenna is super picky with its plumbness so make sure that it is at a 90 deg angle to the earth and not at an angle.

I have an antenna indoors feeding 6 TV's so it is very possible. I just set mine up indoors then I feed the signal into the coax installed in my house. I do have a amplifier to boost the signal but my setup works well and I get a good signal to all the TV's.

Depending on your signal strength you may not need the amplifier for just 2 TV's. You can always try it without and see if you need one.

Put your antenna on your roof on a decently high pole.

Use an app like this to point your antenna likely most of your broadcast antennas are in one general direction with a few outliers
Find a balance and edge it towards the weaker signals.

And Definatley there are great booster amps out there. I like these simple cheap inline power injected ones hook it up to you input before you split your signal and also use a decent splitter with hdtv mhz range(low end is 54mhz high end is 804 mhz)

As with all over the air set ups no promises but if its there this simple set up should catch it

I'm on the Northeast side as well (pretty much directly east of Old Town), and I get great reception. I'm using this antenna, pointed west, with this amplifier attached. I'm able to get all the major networks (with the exception of MyNetwork TV, and who cares about MyNetwork TV?), plus a handful of smaller channels.
