Richard Scarry: Busy Town is a great game for kids. It's semi-competitive, semi collaborative, but fun in that kids need to find things on the map. My older kids like playing too (but it really is a younger game).
See if you can find a copy of Busytown - totally perfect for his age. You'll be gaming with him in no time. Just got my 7-year-old daughter into Sagrada, and I'm already looking at my collection wondering what's next.
The Busytown game is pretty great. It's cooperative (either everyone wins or everyone loses), and any age can contribute at their own level. I've played it with a bunch of different kids and adultall and everyone does really well with it.
My daughter and I adored the Busytown board game, based on the world of Richard Scarry.
It's the rare kids game that is co-op, and scales to many players. The fact that it was co-op gave us a lot more playthoughs, because my daughter isn't highly competitive, and prefers teamwork.
The board unfolds to be six feet long, and is filled with all of the wonderful intricacies of Richard Scarry's artwork.

I just mentioned how much my 5 y/o daughter loves Richard Scary’s Busytown and Labyrinthon a thread yesterday. Well worth the price for either in this sale!
