I'm going to be a teacher next year, making in the low 30k. I plan on traveling a ton. With a standard entry-level job, once you're out of debt, it's not that hard to travel if you're reasonable about living expenses (stay with parents if possible, or live with roomies, cook at home, don't buy stupid shit).
As far as future job prospects go, don't worry; travel is a much more easily explained gap in employment than other situations. If you really want to ensure job security, travel and work at the same time (Work Your Way Around the World is a great resource). You'll get to know locals and have a super-rewarding experience that way.
