I love both of those! My bedroom tends to be done in dark jewel tones, so navy blue, dark green, dark purple, dark red. I could easily picture a nice dark red comforter with either of those.

Neither of them looks feminine or young to me, both classic plaids.

Something like this could be nice with that second grey heather plaid sheet set.

I hope it's okay, but I found a few different ones I thought she might like. If necessary I can narrow it down to one choice :)

Try starting him off with a pale yellow and a very dark gray.

This doesn't really fit my suggestion, but it's rather neutral.

You could also try finding a dark gray bed set, and compromise with him to have a set of yellow pillow covers. Add some gray vases with bright yellow flowers to night stands, and a sunflower themed art piece to hang above the bed, and you've got the best of both worlds.

Great, now I have to repaint my room to yellow and gray!

I think this set of black and white spots is just cute as heck. I know black isn't to girly.. But the design keeps it girly, but mature. I have all black bedding with random accent colored pillows myself. Always liked darker colors even as a kiddo. Hope she likes it too!

I think this one from Ikea would be neat. It comes with a duvet and one pillow case. You can put the duvet around her existing comforter, which might leave some extra $$ for throw pillows and new sheets.

This one on amazon also looks pretty neat, but might be too red/grownup for her.

I’ve had 5 sets rotating for one bed for over a year now.
