I can't say if it's better or worse than the ones you're looking at, because I've only ever had one (previously I brewed in my kitchen). But I got the Dark Star 2.0 when Northern Brewer was having one of their sales (I think mine was free because I bought some other stuff when I was rebuilding my setup after a lot of things "went missing" during a move). It's worked well for me, though it's not nearly as many BTUs as the SP10 you linked to...

It seems like of nearly all the burners out there what differentiates the brands/models is the stand they're mounted on. The actual cast burners themselves are extremely common.

The Dark Star 2.0 can readily boil 7 gal. I have the 1.0 version and it works fine for 6-7 gal and is reasonably fuel-efficient.
