But that spar urethene will break down MUCH more quickly with extended UV exposure.

Use lump charcoal. Put some gasket tape around the lid and around the ashpan. Get a sweet thermometer. Get a cover. Have fun!

This is what I use for my performer. Love it, seems way better than anything I’ve previously owned.

I actually use two covers to make sure the akorn is well protected. I slip a fire pit cover over the akorn that I purchased from the local Meijer store https://www.meijer.com/product/garden-patio/grills-outdoor-cooking/grill-tools-accessories/covers/home-standard-kettle-and-firepit-cover-black-30/t1/t1-874/t2/t2-10142/t3/t3-871/t4/t4-1707/71373358400.uts

Then I place the 61" cover over that which I purchased from amazon for $15, it works just fine.

I had to replace my cover as well after the wind storm. After reading reviews about the "new" weber cover they are obviously using a different fabric. I got this one. Comes in today so can't really say how it is. Although I do have one for my kettle grill and it's a nice material and has a drawstring at the bottom which is cool.

Fully agree. While I can't speak specifically to FNS Plus (very few DE filters in my area), the Clean and Clear Plus have the same tank and are very reliable.

The occasional issues I come across stem from direct sunlight exposure that degrades the fiberglass. If you aren't up for building an enclosure a 22" kettle grill cover goes a long way towards extending the life of the filter.

I bought a generic one on amazon.ca (Canadian here) to save a few bucks. It is made by Broilmann and was $26.

I have a larger version of this cover for my Akorn, and it is pretty nice. The link I posted is for a medium, it may be a little too big for the Minimax, but it beats spending $80 for the real thing.
