To be honest, i'm not sure what the condenser does, I've just been using whatever my female flatmates had, if it had a ionic thing, i'd use it, if not, no big deal. Not entirely sure what the condenser is, but if that's the nozzle, then yes, definitely get a nozzle

I haven't really thought about switching up the temperatures! although it's a good suggestion. I usually just keep it 1-2 temperatures below max. Just enough so it's pleasant and i don't burn my finger

As far as products, I sometimes use this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004C4BUGI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . You apply it after towel drying your hair, and i usually flick all my hair backwards, and to the side as that's the style I go with when it's styled up. This is very useful especially if you have issues with your hair staying upright (as i do, since i have very straight, fine hair). That said, a lot of the times i'll skip this, but if i'm going somewhere special or want to look particularly good, i'll use it (mainly because i'm lazy). For styling, the best thing i've found yet is this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B010B0BYVM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . This of course depends on your hair, but for me other products would be too heavy and drag my hair down. It also has a nice matte finish so if you have a similar hairtype to me, it might be useful

As you get more experience you can experiment with drying with hair product in it as well and see how it works for you. So for example, toweldry hair, blowdry, apply some hair product, blowdry it in place, and then apply some more hair product to solidify the look and further define it. This is quite high maintenance, but again, i've done it once or twice when i wanted to look better for an occasion

Hope that's useful!

No worries here! It feels awesome to be a beardspiration :). Your haircut looks pretty similar to mine, it's honestly looking great, I'd just grow the top a bit more.

The longest strands on my hair are in the front and are about 5 inches long. The hair in the back is about 4. So it's pretty consistent in length for the most part.

For product, I use a dab of mousse, a small amount of holding gel, and a bit of hairspray. I do make sure to wash and blowdry my hair before applying any product. Takes about 20 mins in the morning along with a shower, but it maintains its shape all day.

u/you_dub · 1 pointr/curlyhair

One thing to keep in mind is that silicones are the best heat protectants, so if you are going to keep straightening your hair frequently you might want to consider using them. There are some other heat protectants, I've been doing some research for when I straighten. I googled all the heat protectants from the link on the side bar and found that these ones don't have silicones, but the website claims they are good heat protectants, which are listed after the product.

u/purpleyarn · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

Alright. My hair is extremely thin and very fine, and traditional curling methods left my hair straight after 20 minutes. I did the no heat curls and my hair was curly for 24+ hours - through work at a retail store and a night of sleeping. So this works.

I showered, and got out without drying my hair. In retrospect I should have squeezed some water out, because it was a little difficult to control sopping wet hair (mine tends to tangle when wet). Then I ran Herbal Essences Curl Boosting Mousse through my hair, and then wrapped it around the headband. After that I used some Pantene gel spray for fine hair, went to bed, and took the wrap out in the morning and had super curly hair. It fell a little bit over the course of about an hour, but it looked really nice after that.

u/kellogn2 · 1 pointr/FancyFollicles

I use a product by Scruples to achieve my curly hair! It smells great, and it works better than other products I've tried.

u/RexDoloris · 1 pointr/HaircareScience

Honestly what I just did was their minimal routine which was buying this conditioner and this mousse .
I didn’t buy the mousse on amazon the links are just there for image/name reference. I think it’s cheaper at target or CVS. The conditioner trends at $6-$11 on amazon so sometimes it’s cheaper.

What you want to do is condition every day throw in a bit of moose in your hair. And you should be fine. Use dandruff shampoo every 2 weeks if you have to.

u/-beyonce- · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

The Aveda Volumizing Tonic is my go to for volume with my fine hair. Also adding a texturizing spray after I blow dry helps a lot. I like the Garnier Fructis version I linked to for an affordable option, but would also recommend the Oribe Texturizing Spray or Bumble and Bumble's Dryspun Finish Spray!

u/VanGlass90 · 6 pointsr/malehairadvice

Yes there are mouses (foam that you place in your hand and run it through your hair) that specialize in ‘volume’ when you shop around.

Kenra Extra Volume Mousse #17, 8-Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00147QL8S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_O0XqDbY0PQE8V

u/thethoughtoflilacs · 1 pointr/infertility

Mrs. Lilacs has hair like that (my fine hair self is very very jealous) and she recently got an undercut that extends all around to take some of the weight off. She said it REALLY helped -- she used to get daily headaches.

I know you're not a product person, and I hear you on that -- we're both "wash and go" people -- but this mousse has given us both exactly the volume and texture we want to achieve that 'cool girl' tousled look: https://www.amazon.com/ORIBE-Grandiose-Hair-Plumping-Mousse/dp/B00DHOROQ4. Literally all I do is turn my head upside down, smoosh it through my hair, and let it do what it wants.

u/muddymarge · 1 pointr/curlyhair

I take a small amount of [volumizing mousse] (http://www.amazon.com/Herbal-Essences-Body-Volumizing-Mousse/dp/B001E5E9UC) and scrunch it into my roots. I usually shower at night so I sleep with my hair sort of pushed up kinda like [this] (http://www.theshanamarieshow.com/hair-myth-satin-pillow.jpg) or if I shower in the mornings I will blow dry my hair upside down after it's air dried a bit. When it dries I get volume and if it's a little crunchy I scrunch it out. But I have very thick hair and it's pretty pliable since I only wash it every few days so YMMV.

u/afdoixpl · 2 pointsr/malehairadvice

I used the same Mousse for all the photos, to be honest all 4 styles were recreated 10 seconds apart. How I blow dry for 2 is comb all the hair diagonally back and blowdry that way, dont make a part in the hairline for the side and it slightly poofs up. It really depends on your hair type.

u/StrawberryKiss2559 · 27 pointsr/femalehairadvice

I would worry about damaging it by coloring. Plus, I think your color is great.

If I were you, I’d think about ways to thicken it. This stuff works fantastically for my hair. I spray it in and let it air dry:

https://www.amazon.com/Garnier-Fructis-Thickening-Lotion-Packaging/dp/B00T6FNWLY

You can buy it at most grocery or drug stores for cheap.

You should also go over to r/curlyhair. You’ll find soooo many great tips.

u/RJturtle · 1 pointr/CurlyHairUK

Thanks, I can't find one by that name, is it this one?

u/esaba · 2 pointsr/beards

I use mousse. It doesn't hold as well or long as hair gel or hair putty, but I prefer it because it doesn't make your hair rock hard or sticky. My hair is pretty thick, so gel/putty turns it into a helmet. I find with mousse that once it's dry, I can still touch my hair and it doesn't really feel like there's anything in it.

I'm not particular to any specific brand really. I just get whatever is cheap or on sale. In this particular picture I used Suave Maximum Hold Mousse.

u/cosmik_debris · 22 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

don't brush it; use a wide-tooth comb in the shower when you have conditioner in your hair. use lots of conditioner. to dry your hair, don't rub a towel on it. flip your head over, squish the excess water out with your hands - start by putting the end of your hair in the palms of your hands, squeeze and push up toward your scalp. do the same sort of motion with a towel and wrap if you like to keep your hair in a towel turban for a while.

you can put product in your hair like mousse or a curl cream -- avoid silicones -- before putting it up in a towel and this will help coax out some curls and fight frizz. i like this.

u/finnknit · 3 pointsr/CurlyHairUK

Protein typically comes from ingredients such as:

  • wheat protein
  • keratin
  • silk protein
  • soya protein
  • collagen
  • oat protein

For some people, oils can have a similar effect.

Also, if you're using this V05 mousse, it contains denatured alcohol, which can dry hair out. You could try skipping the mousse and seeing if that helps with the dryness.
u/changlingmuskrat · 3 pointsr/BlackHair

Hmm, I never knew.

I am a recent Cantu convert. They have a mousse that might work. And the mousse says to use a spray.

I use ORIBE Surfcomber and it gives my hair so much volume and texture. I've had different pixie styles for six years and this has been my go-to from the beginning.

u/LittleHelperRobot · 3 pointsr/beards

Non-mobile:

  • mousse
  • gel
  • hairspray

Are you using a conditioner? Shampoo every other day to start with, and use an Argan oil mousse for volume...that'll moisturize while also giving volume as you blow dry. Then use your product. I've had the same convo with my stylist, and I don't think blow drying alone is the problem, so it may not be necessary to eliminate it. Here's the mousse I use:
https://www.amazon.com/Agadir-Argan-Volumizing-Styling-Mousse/dp/B004C4BUGI/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1478908678&sr=8-2&keywords=argan%2Boil%2Bmousse&th=1
