I didn’t want to waffle on! Haha I’ve used some PVA to stick down felt (you could buy sticky back to save time/mess) on the inside. The divider is a bit of scrap plywood that has been sanded and rounded, again with felt glued to it. Card or foam could be used, just as long as it’s glued in place properly. I used PVA but a line of CA glue along the bottom edge helps. The inside of the lid is a scrap of leather stuck to a thick piece of foam and wedged in place. Pro tip: go into a sofa store and ask if they have any old leather sample booklets kicking about, good thickness to cut with a craft knife and glued well.

Rustic Hand Crafted Antique Look Wooden Long Pirate Treasure Chest Trinket/Storage Box with Handle. Approx Length 35cm by sd https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01H2T9CG4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_qHyCDbSJGPVHB

Ideally I’d like to weather it to make it look older and beaten, hopefully will find time to finish and post an update!

Hey guys! So I've been building my vanity for a few months and just needed some good lights. I had a lot of product and it was disorganised, and now everything is within reachable distance, thanks to your suggestions.

I wanted to share it since in case someone else needed inspo for a custom vanity that didn't cost an arm and a leg. It cost about $250 for everything, and I'll list the products, prices, and where I got them below:

Vanity: ($169.00)
https://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/10203610/

Mirror: ($19.99)
https://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/20320312/

Lights: ($22.99)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075XLRHNQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Acrylic Cosmetics Organiser: (about $40 for 2)
I could find the original, since I picked them up at TJ Maxx, but identical products can be found on Amazon
www.amazon.com/dp/B06XSLNQKX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_cLtTBbN42P12C

EDIT: Thought I'd add some pros and cons as well. The downside of the vanity is, there are about 3 inches of drawer space that don't pull out, so I use them to store boxed lashes in the back, as well as my boxes of rings and chokers since I don't wear a lot of jewelry.
The Morphe palettes I have are large, so you can see I've placed them on top of the organiser, since I reach for them a lot.
The vanity also has a glass top, so it's good because it's easier to clean and you can slide photos under it of you want. It's also great because the wood doesn't get damaged from wear and tear or spills.
I also keep my brushes organised by face/eyes - they're just all dirty right now 😭
I also have a separate rack where I keep my serums and liquid foundations/primers since I like to keep them upright (it's just to the side so the area remains decluttered).

For paintbrushes and small tools I use a songmics acryllic make up organiser this it separates into two sections, the two drawers in a box and the top section that clicks into place and holds nicely but can be removed if you just want to take your brushes and a few bits somewhere in the house.

I'm waiting to order a paint organiser. Something like this has the bonus of being able to store miniatures as well. I'm the same and need to keep clean and tidy. I also have a set of plastic drawers I keep odd bits in (flock, scissors, felt tips, tiles)

I have this soft sided case - this is a similar one.

I really love mine, it’s soft so it squishes down pretty nicely. I keep smaller or more delicate items in the little *velcro pockets and larger/sturdier items in the main compartment. I’ve had mine over 5 years and it holds up really well.

Edit: a word

u/missdewey · 3 pointsr/MUAontheCheap

The one I bought for this purpose is probably too big for travel, but I have this one that’s the perfect size! I love that it has holes for earrings and tabs to keep necklace chains from ending up in knots.

What you're looking for is called a Nightstand Caddy or Valet Tray. It's a good way to keep everything organized, in one place, and safe from the cats.

Here's a good example from Amazon that might fit your purpose. They can get as expensive and elaborate as you like, or as cheap as you want. Personally, I went to Ikea and got these so that I can close it at night and not have the cats eat my glasses.

Morthy's Demands:

Very posh soap for a posh Englishperson "Why, yes, Marie, it IS French, but you see, this one is for the horse, and this one is for the butler, and that one is for the underbutler, and I use that one on my stockings..."

Can't really wear this in public unless I want to be molested NSFW WL. "I didn't say--OW!--that I wanted--OW!--YOU to spank it--OW!"

I mean, it IS a phallus. NSFW WL.

Akeleie Demands:

Miyazaki fangirl. CATBUS 4EVA! Tonari no To-toro, TOtoRO...badabadaba

This would assist me in organizing all my tiny top hats, hair clips, bracelets, rings and bobbly bits. It's a project I have put off. It's also got this sort of Narnian quality to it. So many tiny doors!

It has a giant safety pin. For stabbing local wildlife and building huts, probably. Also I could lie and say it's a utilikilt to get people to trust me and think I'm knowledgeable about survival skills and whatnot.

This is going to be a non-techie suggestion, but if you were to get something like this cedar box, you could store the mouse and some other small items in it. As a bonus, it'll make your backpack smell fresh too!

I believe this is the same chest, found on Amazon. 18 bucks, free shipping (with prime). Not bad! Does anyone know a good site to buy custom pieces like that?

My friend gave me this adorable narwhal ring holder which I keep by my kitchen sink. And this cute elephant that I have in my bedroom bathroom!

u/FreshPenPineapple · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I’ve seen very small ones. Like this or this .

I hope this gives you an idea :)

u/PurrMyPretty · 1 pointr/AskWomen

I have a little jewlery box, it has a little holder for the necklaces to dangle down on and has a door cover, to the side off it four little drawers, each one for something different, braclets, rings, earrings and last one just bits and bobs, I have one that also has the top that opens up and it has a little music player in and the little ring holders in.

I'll see if I can find a picture of what I mean, they're really pretty and good for keeping everything in one place unless you have to much then you have a few pretty boxes lying around as well for the less worn items.

It's something a bit like this but you can get all different types, and look really good if you have a vanity desk set up.

u/_pea · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Okay, so everyday in middle school we had to wear these lanyards with IDs on them and if we missed wearing them 3 times that year they sent us to detention.

So one morning I am frantically searching for it.... but it's just in my hand already.

And then just yesterday my friend asked me if I had plans for Cinco de Mayo and I was just about to type "No, I am still doing finals. When is it?" I live in Texas so everyone kinda knows when it is... To be honest I have been a little sleep deprived though. Why on earth did I do that?

This please! I want it because I have some glass jewelry that I need to stop shoving into little boxes.

I find being with my 4 year old grandaughter a uplifting experience. Her and I both love Hello Kitty and this jewelry box is something I hope to get her soon.
