I think 4 hours is on the edge, but most people won't be deterred by it, especially if they get free lodging for the whole weekend out of it. I say go for it! Also consider asking your friend if you can pay for a mosquito spraying service a week before the event. In my area, it's only about $80 for a 1 acre lot, so it's not a big splurge but can make a BIG difference in the bugs. They also make little netted food covers that you can put over food to keep the bugs away, and fun arm bands to repel them from you.
