Fuck this. I'm just gonna make a raspberry pi emulator and maybe 3d print a snes case for it. It's a fraction of the cost and 100 times more fun.

I'll post a guide for everyone later.

-----------------------------------------------
EDIT: So I did some research, and here's what I got.

I found a raspberry pi with all the essentials for $63 (canadian dollars).

You can load that up with all the roms you can imagine. Download and install Retropie software which runs the roms and gives you all the sweet options the official SNES classic does (+it supports NES, PS1, etc)

Found 2 controllers for $20 canadian, but I plan on using my wireless Xbox 360 controllers, which are compatible with raspberry pi.
The case included in the above kit is pretty sweet itself, but if you want an SNES case, you can find many on eBay!

There's also a really sweet make-your-own SNES Classic guide on Gizmodo!

On Amazon, but 8bitdo SNES30 Wireless Bluetooth Controllers, although a bit more expensive, are much better and more well made in my opinion.

I did this last week. I used this & it had all of that in one kit:

I'm not a huge fan of these controllers but I don' tknow if it is them or the whole emulation things. Playing super mario 1, i found it harder to powerslide & stop/not fall down holes. I had this probem with a retroduo but the controlers were even worse

I also picked up this keyboard but haven't even bothered hooking it up:

As far as wired goes, a lot of the cheapo imitation controllers seem to have good reviews. I bought these ones and they've been perfectly fine. I'm going to swap them out for a wired imitation Xbox 360 controller at some point (which I want for my 360 as well).

My original SNES controllers are stored away, but I compared my SN30 to the controllers that came with my SNES Mini. The D-Pad feels a little bit clickier on the SN30, but that's about it. Overall responsiveness is more than satisfactory.

For a 3rd party controller, they're excellent. They certainly beat out these pieces of shit.

I bought some cheap usb controls from amazon that are basically snes controllers. I bought 4 of them. 1 broke after about 2 years of use, other 3 are still good. They are not good for N 64 as they are missing the joystick, but work for all the emulators we usually use - NES, SNES, PSX, Genesis. Also got them to work with a tablet running an emulator.
