It's excellent, much better quality than the first one I bought.
I do this too! When my dog sees me pack up her breakfast in a Tupperware and throw it in my purse, she knows she gets to go play at daycare :) As soon as I stop the car, she gets to eat in the backseat.
I recommend getting a seat cover in case he gets carsick again - I have this one but there are a ton of options. Also seconding the recommendation to crack the windows if you can, they enjoy the fresh air and smells. Good luck!
