Yeah, you have a couple options, either Asus or Acer stand out. I'll leave links for both so you can decide for yourself which one you like better. This is the Acer monitor and this is the Asus monitor. Personal anecdote, the stands for these monitors are horrible, I'd definitely spring for a monitor arm.

Got this one at work. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XB280HK-bprz-28-inch-Widescreen/dp/B00O0Z5682

Got this one at home. I found it on sale a few months ago for $399

Nearly the same screen. One at work has G-Sync, home one does not. Both have very low latency, and nearly no motion blur at all.

Hey, sorry to see no one is recommending displays here.

JayzTwoCents did his Titan X review using an Acer XB280HK [Amazon][Newegg], which seems to have all the features you could want from a 2160p monitor gaming monitor. It's a 28" TN panel, has a 1ms GTG response time, 60hz, and G-Sync.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your search.

AOC G2460PG and the Asus - ROG SWIFT PG248Q are the cheapest 1080p ones. Hovering around 340-350 USD.

The Dell S2417DG is the cheapest 1440p one at around 450 USD.

These are all TN panels. If you want IPS, you're looking at 750+ USD.

And the Acer XB280HK is the cheapest 4k at around 515 USD

This is the amazon link to the product.

However, I would recommend looking at other IPS G-sync monitors if you are in the market. There are better choices now then when I bought this one!

Yep, a M.2. SSD would be quite overkill (and expensive) unless you had a proper reason for it. Unless you just wanted to go overkill.

As for the additional case fan, that would be one of the reason. The main reason is that the Enthoo Pro comes with a 200mm case fan in the front, so there's no need to add another 120/140mm fan to it. SSDs will soon be the norm, expect prices to decrease even more in a couple years. And yep! The Enthoo Pro is a fantastic case which is incredibly well built for the price. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a full tower.

4k/144hz would work if you plan on toning down the settings or add in another GTX 1080. Since you'll have to note that 4k is still pretty intensive, even for a GTX 1080. Here's the benchmarks showing it.

Personal opinion, go with a 1440p/144hz or a 60hz monitor. You'll be able to see 60+FPS on most games on max settings and you won't have to worry about having to tone down the settings for it.

As for the g-sync issue, I haven't heard about installing it on a 4k monitor. If you planned on even doing that, you better be careful, as if something breaks, you basically wasted 400+ dollars on a 4k monitor. But G-sync comes built in with some monitors.

Here's a couple 4k/144hz/60hz monitors with it.

I just got my Acer XB280HK https://amzn.com/B00O0Z5682. It isn't really budget but it takes advantage of all the 1080 has to offer with 4k and Gsync. I have a less than amazing CPU that goes to 100% usage in Witcher 3 but I can max all settings (except for Hairworks) and it looks and plays beautifully at 4k.

u/fine_ill_join_reddit · 1 pointr/buildapc

Was looking at the Acer XB280HK, mostly because it has G-sync. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O0Z5682

u/lemunparty · 1 pointr/buildapc

When I click on the link from my order screen it gives me this, which is the XB280HK. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O0Z5682?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00
I should probably contact Amazon right?

u/whatdidshedo · 1 pointr/buildapc

why did you chose 850 evo m.2(it's same as that 2.5 inch drive meaning it's sata), i assume board supports m.2 pci-e nvme and in that case you want 950 pro to take advantage of it.

plus for monitor, you want to get g sync enabled one cause you got nvidia cards like this one

u/Vir1lity · 1 pointr/buildapc

There are plenty of nice 4K options out there for under $1000. I have the Acer XB280HK and I love it. It's not IPS, but for a TN panel, the color is decent, and the G-Sync makes a huge difference for gaming. You could always pick up a second 24" IPS monitor for around $150 to have for color correction and still be under your $1,000 budget.

I know a lot of people are requesting super expensive items for crazy prices. Yes, there are expensive things I would love to have, like how I need a new laptop for going back to school for IT that meet certain requirements, but that's not realistic and selfish. There are so many people who also wish to be gifted, so I decided to pick something under $1K. If I wanted something tech related, it would have to be a new monitor, as the one I have isn't large enough (I have very poor vision) and makes my migraines much worse. If I were to get a new monitor, I'd want one with G-sync like this one: Acer XB280HK 28.0" 60Hz Monitor. I know that realistic, my chances of winning this giveaway are minimal, but I can still wish! Thanks, /u/TheOneWhoSurfsReddit for being so generous and making people happy.

either the 4k or the 27inch WHD one

I have the 4k one, the monitor is so fucking expensive that its cheaper for me to get a 980ti which can actually work with it

u/rileyluck · 1 pointr/buildapc

Monitors I've found:

http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00O0Z5682

Acer 4k 28" at 60 hz - $703

http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00UPVXDA8/

Acer 1440p 27" at 144 hz - $566

http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0173PEX20

Acer Predator 1440p 27" at 144 hz - $936

http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00MSOND8C

Asus 1440p 27" at 144 hz - $698

All with G-sync, seems like the 27" Acer is the best bang for my buck?

u/Soulshot96 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I think it is this one.

u/Legolas125 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I found 2 pretty decent ones: Asus Monitor and Acer Monitor, Both being 4K monitors and 1ms response time the only benefit with the Acer is G-Sync which eliminates screen tearing, making the game look a little more smoother. As for whether or not you need a 4K the choice is completely up to you, depends on what your primary use of the PC will be.

u/tokyoaro · 1 pointr/buildapc

Well of course but its an expensive feature you wont be using D: sli 980s you can always get a 4k monitor :) http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XB280HK-bprz-28-inch-Widescreen/dp/B00O0Z5682/ref=sr_1_1?tag=blurbust-20 but in my opinion if you aren't gonna use 144hz i would get that lg you like so much :) 34 inches is nice as heck

Mine's a 27" with GSync.

Pros:

Big screen is nais.

Going from 60hz to 144hz is a difference like night and day.

4k resolution is fancy, but you need a motherfucker of a CPU/GPU combo (1050ti does not have enough balls) to run ps2 at high frames in 4k (text becomes teeny teeny tiny).

Got a hella fully sik deal on it and paid $330 on secondhand market.

Cons:

If you can't get a sik deal it's gonna hurt in the wallet.

I find the GSync almost completely useless (This one's a personal preference, screen-tearing has never really bothered me).

DisplayPort connection only (HDMI to DisplayPort converters leave you capped at 30fps unless you buy what's called an "active" HDMI->DisplayPort which will set you back $120-$150 which is cooked).

u/ayequeue · 1 pointr/buildapc

Currently trying to decide between these two monitors based on the Tom's hardware guide:
Acer XB280HK 28" GSYNC 3840 x 2160 60Hz - $599:
XB280HK

Acer XB270HU 27" GSYNC 2560 x 1440 144Hz - $689:
XB270HU

Ideally I'd be buying this monitor for the long term so I'm trying to balance the lower price / higher resolution / lower refresh rate of the 28" vs the higher price / lower resolution / higher refresh rate of the 27".

Any thoughts on which would be the better pick or even any other monitor suggestions? Will mostly be using either for gaming as well as an extra display for my work computer (15" MBP) while working from home (I doubt this would swing things either way as I'm primarily looking at a text editor when I work).

u/TheJasonSensation · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Thank you for the reply! It looks pretty good!

A few questions,

  1. Are those pcie ssds noticeably faster than the sata ones?
  2. I was thinking gsync myself, but what advantages do those monitors have over a cheaper one like this?: https://smile.amazon.com/Acer-XB280HK-bprz-28-inch-Widescreen/dp/B00O0Z5682/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472760410&sr=8-1&keywords=4k+gsync
