So why won't this work?

Select an option like Amazon.com Gift Cards - In a Gift Box

or Amazon.com Gift Cards - In a Greeting Card

And then when I go through all the way to the final screen: "Review your order", there's a spot that says "Gift cards & promotional codes" where I can enter a code, even though I already selected a credit card/bank card on the previous screen..

So what happens if I enter a code I got from Perk there, it won't work? Or if I didn't have the proper Perk code amount I wanted, couldn't I just email an electronic gift card to myself from my accumulated Amazon gift card balance from Perk, then enter that code into the "Gift cards & promotional codes" section?

I would think that would work, but everyone else is saying no.
