BeFree is great. Nitecore Thumb is on my wishlist. You could get a 4" phone cable, Dance pants, Toothpaste Tablets, Ursack.
I don't know of any 59" trekking poles. Maybe one of those extenders?
I use an Anker Astro E1 charger + cheapo 4" Amazon lightning cord for a whopping total of 134 grams!
You can certainly get more than 2 full charges out of that thing as well.
id hope thats just a worn out cable, and not your plug. i just got my first iphone in december but it snaps in pretty tight and doesnt come out. i bought a 3-pack of extra charging cables and i bought some short cables for attaching to my portable pack. you dont need the expensive oem cables as replacements but you wanna make sure you're getting a trusted brand because some of them dont work right, the super cheap ones basically. i can only vouch for those 2 that i bought, but all of the amazonbasics stuff should work well if you need to get a replacement cable. it shouldnt be wobbling around in your port
I don't have a GTI but I do have a Jetta, and from what I've seen the interiors are pretty similar. I've been using CarPlay ever since I got the car and I love it. I hear what you said about not wanting to manage a cable, if it's about plugging a cable into your phone every time you drive I can't help (I actually like doing it because it charges my phone), but as far as managing cables I got one of these and it works great. I don't have to worry about a long cable, and it fits perfectly in the little book below my dash. Hope this helps!

These are the ones I have. I have that one in my car, and it's the one I'm using right now at home/work. I've only broken one when I dropped my phone while it was charging, and it landed directly on the plug. (I emailed amazon for that, and said it just "stopped working randomly" and they gave me a replacement for free haha).
