Yeah I wouldn't sleep in the same room as my printers either :)

As for the dust issue.. we pretty much solved it by buying a litter box with a lid and a door, that might be worth a try.

When we lived in an apartment, the first one was a studio. The litter box was set up downstairs, underneath the stairs, we eventually ended up moving it to the back door for privacy while using the box. We had hardwood floors, so if you do as well, I would recommend a mat so it’s easier to clean and your cat won’t track as much litter across the floor after using it.

We used to use a litter genie but buying the refills became expensive so we would just keep all our grocery bags in the pantry and use those to scoop the box and then tie them up and toss them in with the regular trash. I wouldn’t recommend directly putting the poop in your trash bc if you don’t accumulate as much trash, your cat’s poop will just sit in the regular open trash and the smell is terrible. So I highly recommend scooping into a grocery bag or even doggy poop pick up bags. They’re super cheap.

I hate being able to smell poop in the box, so I would scoop whenever I heard the cat finish using the box. If you don’t have that much time, i would recommend twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. Keeping it clean also ensures that your cat won’t go outside the box. Cats are weird like that. If the box is too dirty, they won’t like going in to use it. But by “completely clean it” you mean dumping all the litter and washing the box and then putting in clean litter all over again, we only really did this if poop got on the side of the box. Other than that, I think it’s recommended to keep the box 2/3 filled so usually once a week, I would pour in a bit more litter to keep it filled 2/3 of the way.

Sorry this is so long. I’m pretty much done. My last point, which was a lifesaver, was getting a litter box with a cover that has a swinging door. There’s various versions/brands. We got ours from Walmart, I don’t remember the brand. But it’s a lifesaver. It really diminishes the smell, there’s also a vent on the side and your cat has complete privacy. They also make litter box deodorizer that you can get at the dollar store.

Good luck with your new car! Hope this helps.
