1 - yes, good choice for what you are doing. Probably more power than you need.

2 - You should be able to use almost any USB-C to HDMI dongle. Something like http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-Type-C-HDMI-Adapter/dp/B01M3PTUV6

3 - Don't worry about memory unless you plan to run multiple VMs or do video editing.

4 - A standard laptop SATA drive will fit. Some of the thicker ones might not.

5 - Some VMs have issues with custom hardware like the tablet.

You would probably need to buy a dongle - depending on how old your macbook pro is:

Thunderbolt 2 adapter:

USB-C adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-Type-C-HDMI-Adapter/dp/B01M3PTUV6

If you're not sure which you need just look at the shape of the ports on the side of your laptop and match them up :)

Hey,

Yes, you can use a USB-C to connect to an external display, you just need this: adapter.

As for a 2in1 laptop for CAD, these could be options: search engine - searched for 2in1 laptops with a dedicated graphics card.

You can see and change the search parameters using the "Refine results" button in the upper-left part of the search results page. You can also click on the laptops for more information.

I would give this one a chance: Lenovo Yoga 730-15 - I think it has the best build quality from my results. It also has an excellent peripheral port selection: 1 X USB 3.1 (Type-C), Thunderbolt, 2 X USB 3.0, HDMI port and a 4GB gaming graphics card: GTX 1050. It has some problems: during gaming, it will get very hot (most 2in1 laptops do this - these are not gaming laptops) and some wireless problems have been reported - but rolling back to an older driver will solve this problem.

Hope I helped!
