I can charge my pixel 3XL rapidly with this combo I purchased on Amazon. It's only around $5 cheaper than the original charger that can be purchased from the Google store.

It comes with the cable to charge the battery pack, but you'll still need a USB C to USB C or a USB A to USB C cable. If you're talking about a wall plug to charge the switch, most USB C chargers should work, however, may not charge as fast as the Nintendo one that came with the switch

It's been a while since bad chargers were being reported. There probably still are a few bad ones, but a lot being produced now should be up to specs.
Anker is a reputable charging equipment company that has excellent customer service. Their stuff is generally safe.
Cables were also a problem because they didn't have a 56 ohm resistor that helped from letting in more voltage? than it should. A lot of USB C cables now have them so look out for that when looking for USB C cables if you really want to make sure it has it.
You will get Power Delivery (PD) ONLY with a USB C to USB C cable. Some will advertise it some won't, but just know that as long as it's C to C cable, PD will work on a brick that provides PD.
If you see that bricks or cables are USB-IF certified, it's also a good sign.

A-to-C cables have the potential to be dangerous in the way you're asking, and there was a lot of that in the beginning, where the manufacturers would put the wrong resistor (10k Ohm) and the cable would trick the host to output in many cases more than they could. Your best bet (though unfortunately not 100% certain) is with well known brands and C-to-C cables. The AmazonBasics ones are good and cheap, and as a bonus they're USB certified. I got several in different lengths. As for a charger, I like the multiport Anker one. They also have a new model, but I don't have that one.
