No need for the $40 products! Shimmer Lights is a great toner. The shampoo would dry out my hair a bit, though my hair is super bleached. If you run in to that problem, just use lots of conditioner after, or switch to the Shimmer Lights toning conditioners. Currently I use John Frieda toners because I like the scent better.

I also discovered these corrector drops that I mixed in the last time I did my roots. It really helped. I believe they can be mixed with regular shampoos and conditioners as well.

I may be incorrect (someone correct me if this is terrible advice), but I believe you can just add Ardell Red Gold Color Corrector to your conditioner as an alternative.

For curly hair it's not recommended you use shampoo at all. I personally have stopped using shampoo and only use a cleansing conditioner on my scalp from time to time, and it has made such a vast improvement on frizziness/curl structure. So I think if you can mix in the color corrector with your sulfate/silicone free conditioner, that would be a better solution.

Edit: After reading through some reviews/more info online, I think if you mix some of this corrector in with a deep conditioner and use it as a sort of mask for ~30 minutes, it helps reduce brassiness by a lot. You can repeat occasionally until all brassiness is removed. Not sure how effective it would be if you just mixed a whole bottle with your bottle of conditioner, but maybe you can try out various methods and report back!
