I can recommend this monitor as being really nice for the price. I'm using it in a project. I can also verify that there aren't any overscan issues.

It's also available on amazon for a few dollars cheaper (and if you have prime, you'll save on shipping) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00413PHDM/

I have this.

100 bucks new, 85 used. Comes with halfway decent speakers. You're a college student so I'm guessing you want cheap. I highly recommend this monitor.

You'll have to humor me, as this is what I have been working with.

Removing the monitor, as I don't necessarily need another right now nor need 144Hz, where else would you put the budget? I'm sure the difference between 4590 and 4690 are negligible. 1 TB HD to pair with the SSD? Keyboard?

And if I kept the monitor, would the i5/970 really be able to take advantage of it?

Graphics Card is Nvidia GeForce GTX 760. Monitor 1 is this Asus Monitor. Monitor 2 is this Acer Monitor.

This is one of my two. It is fantastic, has it's own speakers, and works with HDMI. I love it. It's right around your price range too. (though a little over)

u/helloimcallum · 2 pointsr/buildapc

This for your money, but if you can get an extra $30 then I would go with this.

It all depends on your desk space, mobo ports, etc, but this is a very nice monitor that works like a charm

u/chickenroast · 1 pointr/buildapc

this is my monitor: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00413PHDM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't think it's gsync, that would mean its free sync, correct?

u/area51agent · 1 pointr/buildapc

I can't really suggest any monitors. I use a monitor I bought for like $15 from a yard sale and an Asus monitor

This is what I use. It is pretty good for The Show for me and it's really good for the price.

I've got a pair of ASUS VE228Hs that are excellent, and if you shop around you can definitely find them cheap. I paid $99 each from Staples when I bought mine.

You need to remove the referrals from the amazon link or the spam filter eats it. Like so:

Ok I found a good quality monitor that won't break your budget.

These are also a really good ones that push your budget to your limit.

A lot of GAEMS's monitors have what they call a "Competitive Viewing Angle" which is 90°; not good if you want to play local multiplayer games. If you mainly play by yourself it should be fine. If you want to play more local multiplayer games and don't mind not having the screen attached to a case, I'd recommend a computer monitor with HDMI input and built-in speakers like this one. It has a 170° viewing angle but it may be a bit on the large side for you.

I have 2 of these and they work quite well.

Is computer building just your hobby or is it your profession? To a new guy your knowledge level seems insane. Thanks, I'm going to stick with the i3 for now. That's been a big question for me so thank you for the help!

I know I'm bombarding you with a lot of questions, but one other thing. How would this monitor be for me?

u/monkeypoops · 1 pointr/buildapc

Just bought one of these, its pretty sweet, only $167

u/Harder_Tory · 1 pointr/macsetups

This is what I use with my 21.5 iMac. However I have mine attached to this monitor stand which is awesome btw.

u/blacklabel8829 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I really love my monitor. But I am also in the minority of not liking gigantic monitors.

u/tokenwalrus · 1 pointr/Monitors

The Asus VE228H has integrated speakers and is 1080p. It's even cheaper than the BenQ.
I used it for awhile until upgrading and it's fantastic. Otherwise I think you'll run into audio output problems. Im not sure about XBone but XB360 won't allow you to split the audio from HDMI to your headset.

u/romeo_zulu · 1 pointr/buildapc

I was looking at another, slightly smaller Asus, earlier. Any thoughts on it/the differences between the two?

Ultrawide and the 16:9. Nothing super fancy but they work with VESA mounts and look alright!

u/Mach_XXII · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace
