My intellectual opinion of Atlas Shrugged (and Objectivism) is best summed up in this Amazon review: Literary worthlessness only exceed by its philosophical vapidness.
> The movie had zero impact. It was a meaningless CG fest.
I doubt that RPO the novel had "societal impact" other than people becoming fans. In contrast, a serious novel like Atlas Shrugged had societal impact. Ready Player One only has entertainment value; it's not a philosophical work.
If a Ready Player One movie were to have societal impact - a movie with philosophical content - it probably would have ended up being a box office bomb. Not everything can be Blade Runner 2049, which is one of the greatest movies of all time but was also a bomb relative to its huge budget.
You said it! Perhaps Mr. Porche-driver and others like him should just get out of the way and let resentful mediocrities run things.
