This Atomos Ninja Inferno works splendidly with the GH5... plus it unlocks 4k60fps at 10-bit which is lovely. It's a little large (the 5 inch version is coming out later this year) but a larger screen is always nice to have when you have clients looking over your shoulder as well.
/u/UnmistakableTuna - sadly, the BMCC is a lot of hassle for docs and run and gun (rigging, NDs, audio) - and the A6500 needs help with ND filters, audio (no headphone jack) plus it has a weak 8-bit codec.
Instead, for about the same price as the A6500 with a decent lens, you might want to consider something like a [$1079.99 open box Panasonic FZ2500 from Best Buy with the one year US factory warranty] (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575034783&toolid=10001&campid=5337235943&customid=&icep_item=192295389255&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg) plus a [$795 refurb'd Ninja Inferno 10-bit recorder with XLR input] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B06XRHH367/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&f_all=true&f_refurbished=true&m=AQHJUJN6OFRDH&linkCode=ll2&tag=battleforthew-20) and the [$97 V-LOG upgrade] (https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMW-SFU1-VLOG-Function-Firmware-Upgrade/dp/B06XSQCLB6//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=battleforthew-20).
The FZ2500 can record at up to 4096x2160p DCI 4K resolution and has:
Here is the image quality it can produce:
10-bit to Atomos
8-bit LOG
120 fps slow motion in full HD
Travel
Wedding
Musical Performance
It's a capable still camera as well:
This camera will give you high quality 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 video in a compact package for a reasonable price.
Hope this is helpful and good luck finding the right camera for your needs!
I have that issue when shooting internal 10-bit footage as well, on both of my editing machines. However, I used this external recorder for this video which was using the DNxHR codec, and had no issues in Premiere.
...it's also the only way to get 10-bit 60FPS out of the GH5, at least for now.
