I planned one for my sister and tbh it was the most stressful part of the pre-wedding activities. I didn’t like planning one and I don’t like attending them BUT they’re very popular where I’m from. In my area at least, the entire point of a Jack and Jill is to raise a little cash fund for the couple, so I felt immense pressure to make sure the couple actually made a profit (because I know couples who have gone through the work only to next a couple hundred bucks). Find a big ball for as cheap as possible and sell as many tickets as you can!

Most that I’ve gone to have ticket prices around $25, some then do $40/couple. They all have raffle prizes (usually the type where you tear tickets off and throw them in a bag + a few big ticket items where the tickets cost more). For big ticket items, we did a TV, a lottery tree, 2 frills, and a Yeti cooler. Most small ticket prizes were donated by friends and family. We also had a booze raffle table as part of the small tickets. I highly suggest getting raffle ticket sheets like these - they’re much easier for guests and we got a lot of good feedback on them.

Food wise, go simple buffet from somewhere cheap but good, maybe BBQ or a pizza-joint type place that can do ziti, meatballs, salad, etc. desserts can be cookie trays from Costco. Many J&Js have a cash bar and some include keg beer as part of the ticket price.

Games are another good/fun way to bring money in. I’ve seen Plinko and paying to Pie to the groom or bride. I’m sure there are other ideas out there, too!
