AT MSR7

Sony MDR-1A

and

B&O H6 (if you're comfortable buying used-like new / very good out of the warehouse)

are the common commuter/office recommendations.

And of course there are always the M40x 's, but many people do not find these comfortable out of the box. A pad upgrade is recommended.

u/Kerry56 · 3 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

For classic rock and jazz, I'd recommend something that isn't too bass heavy. ATH MSR7 would be one choice that might suit you.

At a much lower price point, you can find the Takstar Pro 82.

If you don't need portability, you should also look at the ATH A990z.

u/hitlersfunkymustache · 2 pointsr/headphones

These would be good for portable use, definitely better than the m50x's.

They're about 100$ apart, and I'm looking for something that I can use basically everywhere (Bus, at school, gym, etc.) I'll be using it with a phone and/or my computer, no DAC.

I wanted to go for the Beyerdynamics but I fear that the cord might break since it's non-removable.

u/ITzNybble · 2 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

EDIT: I am dumb I just saw you wanted closed back.

open back or closed back? Open back is better for gaming but others will be able to hear what you hear. If it doesn't matter then open back for gaming.

These are deemed better than the m50x's

DT770 80 ohm - 135 new https://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-770-PRO-Studio-Headphone/dp/B0016MNAAI/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=DT770+80+ohm&qid=1563902448&s=gateway&sr=8-3

I owned these and played CSGO and I had no issues hearing anyone. I made it to LEM (if that matters to you) Very clear audio. I also never used an amp with these so they can only get better. if you have more questions on these just message me, I can compare them to the HE4xx's as I now own those.

AMP & Dac:

FX Audio DAC X6 - ~54.99 new https://www.amazon.com/FX-Audio-Optical-Coaxial-Amplifier/dp/B072JJT7SF/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=FX+Audio+DAC+X6&qid=1563901865&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Basically I am no expert as I am just getting into the DAC/AMP world but from my research and this subreddits wiki and other sources, it seems better to put your money into better headphones and then into a better DAC/AMP. I would look for a used pair of headphones from

/r/AVexchange or /r/hardwareswap if you are wanting something better, I picked up a pair of HE4xx for 110 shipped.

Just my two cents. I could be wrong and anyone please feel free to correct me as I am still learning all this.

u/EmmaWinters · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

In that case, get the Audio Technica MSR7GMs for $10 less.

u/maltawind · 1 pointr/headphones

On Amazon UK they're $149.00.

Sorry, but would have helped if you actually mentioned what country you're in in the first place instead of leaving me to guess.

u/Watermellon53 · 1 pointr/headphones

Hey! I'm considering purchasing either the Sennheiser HD 598 or the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM. My budget is $190 and I can get the Audio-Technicas very slightly used for about that much. My only problem is I wouldn't be able to purchase a warranty with them. Has anyone who owns them ever noticed or heard of any problems with them? Or have any advice regarding these two? Are the Audio-Technicas significantly better in sound quality?

Basically if anyone who's tried both can chime in, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

u/Synchross · 1 pointr/headphones

ATH MSR7 are on sale for 189 USD at amazon.

Yeah, take a look at these for example:

Sennheiser

Beyerdynamic

M40x with mic, recommended

MSR7, great fucking sound for this price

ahh okay I am going to go for the open back then, I also have never had them so I might as well try them! I cant decide between the X2 and these https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-MSR7GM-SonicPro-High-Resolution-Headphones/dp/B00PEUBIKM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479969239&sr=8-1&keywords=Audio-Technica+ATH-MSR7GM+SonicPro+Over-Ear+High-Resolution+Audio+Headphones

what do you think of them.

u/jghall1 · 1 pointr/headphones

Quick question, I'm looking at buying a pair of AudioTechnica MSR7s on Amazon. If I go with the gunmetal colors, the Japan Import is cheaper than the SonicPro. Is there any difference between the Japan Import and the SonicPro?

SonicPro: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-MSR7GM-SonicPro-High-Resolution-Headphones/dp/B00PEUBIKM

Japan Import: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-MSR7-GM-Gun-Metal-Resolution/dp/B00OTADUJA

Here is the only information I could find regarding Import series, although the MSR7 is not listed: http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/features/2eaff052bda10314/

Thanks in advance for any help!

u/KieranMck · 1 pointr/headphones

Budget - Around £130ish

Source - iPhone 5s, Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series laptop, Marshall MG100DFX Amplifier, Yamaha DTX450 Electric Drum kit

Requirements for Isolation - Probably going to be using it them on the train

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - yes, walking to university and stuff

Preferred Type of Headphone - Circumaural, but could open to on-ear if they're comfortable

Preferred Music - all genres of metal and rock. Occasional hip-hop and electronic but 95% rock and metal

Location - UK

Past Headphones - Sony MDR-XB300, Logitech UE6000

I was pretty happy with the UE6000 but they're broken, I've not managed to fix them and Logitech customer service was incredibly bad. Thought I might look for an upgrade. I've been looking at the Beyerdynamic DT770, the Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 (slightly more expensive than id like to spend but if theyre worth it I'd buy them) and I could sway to the [Sennheiser HD-25s] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-Headphone-headband/dp/B00009ZSYG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453640332&sr=8-1&keywords=hd25), I don't really like on ear headphones as I generally wear them for long periods but I could be swayed if they're comfortable. Thanks for your time.

u/pint07 · 1 pointr/playrust

I'll go from cheapest to most expensive here:

Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM - $199

AKG K702 - $232 (I have the older version of these, the K701s, and they've been going strong for ~8 years. Can't recommend them enough.)

HIFIMAN HE-400I - $249

Sony MDR1A - $298

Monoprice Monolith M1060 - $299

Sennheiser HD 650 - $315.99

AKG K712 - $379

Most of these headphones will really shine with a little headphone amp to give them a bit more power than your computer or phone's audio output can deliver. Something like a FiiO E10k works amazing. Or the FiiO A3 for a portable solution. Or if you want something that looks a bit sexier and is more of a stay on your desk kind of thing, you can go for something like this or this. Either way, any of these headphones will blow your Bose cans away no question - like not even in the same league of sound quality.

u/Gacnt · 1 pointr/PUBATTLEGROUNDS

I've always been a huge fan of Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, and Sennheiser you can't go wrong with any of them

I'm currently using Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM SonicPro Over-Ear High-Resolution Audio Headphones, Gun Metal Gray https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00PEUBIKM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fDhnzbZ7PPAK5

And I absolutely love them.

Hello again!
The final candidates i got from all the suggestions are:

HD569-link which are 110eu

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 32 Ohm - link which are 117eu

Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM - link which are 169eu

Sennheiser HD598CS - link which are 229eu

The starting budget was 100eu, but im willing to go to 200, or even 229 if some of you experts think its worth the additional money.

There is also an option of waiting for black friday and seeing how the sales go, but i would like to be prepared in any case.

Do you maybe have any more suggestions on those headphones?

u/SlyNinjaRabbit · 1 pointr/headphones

Are these an ugly colour

u/jamwagon · 1 pointr/headphones

Thought I'd bring this to your attention.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PEUBIKM
ATH-MSR7 on sale for $150

The HD 598 cs didn't drop to $99 like last year but it's still a good deal at $150. I'd pick it over the HD 569 just cus of looks/build.

So that's 2 Audio Technica and 2 Sennheisers all at $150 for you to consider.

Let us know what you get!
