There are others that people like to recommend the old Denons, specially the D2000 that can be found cheaper in Ebay, but its a pain in the butt to find, same with the MDR-XB1000.
Some people will also mention some JVC ones, but i havent had the chance to try them. Btw some people will recommend the HE400i and please no stay away from them. Stay away from Planars in general if you want Basshead levels of Bass, the LCD-2 Pre-Fazor being the only exception (i tried it like a year ago so i dont remember a lot but i liked it).

You could take any of these, pair them with a VModa BoomPro if you want a good boom mic, and be off to the races in style and with no hassles.
I've always been curious about the SHP9500's, especially since they have a 3.5mm headphone jack input.
Anybody have thoughts on these vs the Audio-Technica ATH-WS1100iS? Another set of cans I'm interested in, and also have a 3.5mm input.
Audio Technica ATH-WS1100iS. Easily one of the best sounding pair of headphones I’ve owned for gaming, movies, and music. They’re a semi-open back to allow airflow for the lower end bass frequencies, speaking of which, are very punchy and colorful without overwhelming or muddying the mids and highs which are very clear and accurate. The headset adapts perfectly with a mod mic. Also, they’re just aesthetic af in general with the low key purple anodized aluminum with subtle gold trim. Also, the 53mm drivers are easy to power with a smartphone or PC so you won’t have issues with volume.

Take a look at the ATH-WS100is assuming you need closed-backs. https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-WS1100iS-Over-Ear-Headphones-Microphone/dp/B018UB3HU0
Are open-backs an option?
I got the Audio Technica ATH-WS100 the week they dropped, seems they have become popular since but don't let the "solid bass" fool you into it being V shaped, it is when it you want it to be.
I listen to all genres of music and it is been so far my favorite Headphones under the 200$ range.
Take a look at the ATH WS1100is
For that price I'd try:
Hyper x Cloud
If you didn't need to go wireless, I'd get
Audio Technica 1100is
The cord is detachable, so you can replace it with as long a cord as you want. Pretty much audiophile cans that are great for gaming.
Thx for the deal ive been waiting for these to go on sale again i bought these on a recommendation Audio-Technica ATH-WS1100iS Solid... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018UB3HU0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share as scalpers were selling these Philips for like 300 a piece
Yeah I can see that, sorry for mis-understanding.
HP is actually refreshing their Omen lineup and its probably the way i'd go. Its refreshing with skylake cpu's for improved battery performance, up to 965m gpu, 512gb ssd in a really sleek package should go for about $1300-$1500 and then just pack in a real good set of headphones like the https://amzn.com/B018UB3HU0
Then be stupidly happy.
Check out the Audio Technica Ath-Ws1100is (Don't worry the solid bass marketing is bullshit)

I don't know much about the M50x I think thoses have less bass
V-moda m-100 seem like a good fit. You can get larger earpads if the stock ones are too small. And they also have a removable cable so you can get a mic if you really want.
Sony MDR-1A are also a decent option, it's a pain in the ass with the mic compared to the other headphones around the same price though.
Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 are also pretty good and can also fit a mic like the m-100.
Audio Techica ATH-WS1100iS are a cheaper alternative to the MSR7 with a different sound signature and can also fit the mic.
https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-WS1100iS-Over-Ear-Headphones-Microphone/dp/B018UB3HU0 another substitute for m40x

My headphone suggestion, Audio-Technica
Then snag a premium 10' Audio Cable
A boom mic in this context is a mic that attaches to headphone and swings out over the mouth of the person wearing them.
These are usually the two most recommended headphone boom mics:
I have these with the V-MODA Boom pros and it is the same exact experience as with most gaming headsets. But sounds much better and the Mic is good quality. If either the mic or headphones break I can replace only the broken part. Also, I can just use a normal 3.5mm audio cord for when I don't want a microphone attached.
I have the Audio-Technica WS1100iS and love them. I've heard they are similar in audio quality to the M50's but with a bit punchier bass.
In my opinion, they sound fantastic and the bass isn't over the top like with some bass heavy headphones.
I think the Audio Technica Ws100is look FRESH my dude. They come with an inline mic but the V-moda boompro works very well with these. They arent bluetooth but are very good for gaming and without murder death bass.
Oh you're from Canada. Here in the US about a week ago were at that price, look at it now :( Audio-Technica ATH-WS1100iS Solid Bass Over-Ear Headphones with In-line Microphone & Control https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018UB3HU0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_6Ye6BbKE6ZCJQ
I think it's actually just the prime price from Amazon
https://www.amazon.ca/Audio-Technica-Ath-Ws1100is-Solid-Over-Ear/dp/B018UB3HU0
Amazon transitioned Australia to its own amazon site, so I can't get the edition s from the US, unless there is an alternative site that ships to Aus.
What do you make of the durability of the edition s headband in light of the consistent reviews complaining about it?
For bass, these are far better than the m50s (and cheaper!): https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-WS1100iS-Over-Ear-Headphones-Microphone/dp/B018UB3HU0
The stereo imaging is fairly tight, but with good separation and detail. The bass is articulate and punches beautifully.
They are also vastly more comfortable and have a much better aesthetic imo.
I'd live in a dorm with 2 other people, and I like my volume up. I don't care as much about isolation as sound leakage. I know I can't eliminate it completely, but at least closed cans are the best one can do.
MSR7's are $200... What do you think about these as compared to let's say Beyers or the M40X/M50X: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-WS1100iS-Over-Ear-Headphones-Microphone/dp/B018UB3HU0
Ever heard the Sennheisers HD 598 CS?
