We're buying our invites from Vistaprint and plan to use labels for addresses. Super easy to do, especially if your guest list is in Excel or Word. I believe these are the ones we're using: https://www.amazon.com/Avery-Address-Labels-Printers-Inches/dp/B00004Z5SN/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491398648&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=avery+address+labels&psc=1
You can print them on sheets like this directly to make "stickers": https://www.amazon.com/Avery-Mailing-Printers-Permanent-Adhesive/dp/B00004Z5SN
Or you can just use tape, whatever is easiest for you.
No specific way I guess. The main rules I know of is that every product has to get a little label like these and it has to cover up any pre-existing bar code. Or you can just color over the old bar code with a sharpie if necessary.
I don't know the dimensions off hand but I've used these for similar projects.
