my twin daughters have crazy curls too! it’s not easy to manage, but a couple of tips to help you out.... curly hair should never be brushed when it’s dry. i brush my girls’ hair while they’re in the bath, when it’s saturated in conditioner. this gets all the knots out fairly easily. use a good detangling comb. i recently also found an awesome brush that doesn’t seem to hurt them as much when i’m detangling. it has both boar bristles and nylon pins -like this one here anyways, after that, i brush or comb it out once more when they get out, spray on some leave-in conditioner, and whatever curl-shaping product i happen to have at the time, and then kinda scrunch their hair up with my hands. then i have them “do some hair flips” where they bend over forward and flip their hair down and then flip back up straight again, whipping their hair back up and down again a few times. (hope that makes sense) this part is always fun for them lol.
in the mornings, i use a spray bottle with a mixture of water and conditioner to wet their hair down a bit again, and use my fingers to kind of comb through it and get any frizziness out, and reshape the curls. and that’s it. if you dry her hair with a blow dryer, make sure you use a diffuser attachment. it’s specifically for drying curly hair. i haven’t ever used the dryer on my girls, but i’m planning on trying it soon to see if it helps any. we only wash hair every few days. the first day after a wash they always wear it down, and then each consecutive day they generally wear it up in a messy bun that looks fantastic with their curls and is super easy.
In addition to what everyone else had said, this brush got me through my hair when I went through a similar depression. I eventually cut off 15 inches, which was super liberating, but that brush and “it’s a 10” detangler helped me more than any other of the dozens of brushes and detanglers I tried.
