I've been using the Boppy side sleeper pillow since mid-September and love it. I add a firm pillow between my knees and ankles which keeps them comfortably separated, and have a softer pillow under my hips.
It's not perfect, but since I added the pillow under the hips, I've been sleeping significantly better AND I get to keep my normal pillow which I love dearly.
For those who don’t have room for a fucking pool float in their bed...the Boppy Side Sleeper
This Boppy pillow is not that expensive and it keeps me, a lifelong back sleeper on my side all night. It’s like a big hug. I love this thing. I’ve been using it since about 14 weeks and at 29 weeks now it’s a godsend.
Boppy Side Sleeper Pregnancy Pillow - $24.95
I had this exact same issue. I can't sleep on my side for long without my hips and shoulders hurting. I tried all the pregnancy pillows and the Boppy Side Sleeper was the one that stuck. At night I'll usually start out on my side but then when it's uncomfortable I'll rotate where my shoulders end up on the bed like i'm lying on my back, but the wedge keeps my bump leaning to one side. It takes the pressure off of the hip and shoulder bones. It has changed sleep for me for sure!
I tried the C shape but I toss and turn too much when the baby is active at night that it wasn’t really working for me. I found this “side sleeper” pillow on amazon and love it:

It doesn’t take up a lot of space in the bed and I don’t get as hot using it. I can “lean” back on it and the pillow supports my whole body weight while the front supports my belly. I’ve never seen people really comment on these but I love it. Now I can shift side to side or lay on my back if I want to without waking up. I’m definitely sleeping better now.
Side sleeper that switches between sides all night long - ever since being pregnant it's a sport how often I switch from one side to the other. This has been lifesaving:

Then I have a pillow between the knees and two pillows stacked by my head. Not perfect but it works for now.
Basically any pillows made for pregnancy. I've got a big U shapes body pillow and my fav is a boppy pillow and I use it to brace my hips when sitting in a chair or car seat. I'm too pressure sensitive to be able to use an SI belt so this pillow has allowed more relief bc it doesn't feel too harsh.
