Get a bivy bag or a single person tent with a good sleeping bag and you should be okay. Dress in layers to keep warm at night. Focus on keeping your hands, ears, nose, and feet warm too with fleece socks, face warmer wrap, and thermal gloves and you should be okay.
I am in the US and I found that there is a health clinic that will let you take showers there. Wipes for a quick crotch and pits wash is a good thing too.
There are emergency blankets that work very well for keeping warm in the winter too. I used one in layers with a light blanket/ emergency blanket/ heavy sleeping bag... I was very toasty!
I don't think you will NEED a car, but it would be nice. Maybe you can work on up to one later on? No point in having a car if your going to freeze to death in it while you sleep.
Edited to add... dry shampoo is helpful also. You can make your own but I haven't tried any of the recipes. I kept hand sanitizer on me too. Coconut oil is wonderful for many things including deodorant, lotion PLUS it's anti-bacterial.
