The US alone has just under 5,000 degree granting institutions, UBC is ranked in the top 50 internationally. This means you are in the top 0.01% of students fortunate enough to be attending one of the best higher education institutions in the world. Also you are an international student, and judging by the tone of your post, you are likely too young to be funding your stay here of your own volition. Honestly you sound very entitled, I think you should be a little more thankful for what you have.
>I have a black-and-white mindset which is hurting my progress in life.
The world is far too colourful, complex, and nuanced for a black-and-white mindset and you could benefit a lot from a change in your thinking. I'm not a religious or spiritual person, in fact I consider myself quite rational and skeptical, however I've found a lot of insight from this book - best twelve bucks I ever spent.
>...so technically my life is over because nobody will want to employ me cause I go to UBC!
Your life is not over, it has only just begun.
Zen and the Brain is a very thicc book but is full of a lot of interesting science on meditation. There's one caveat, the research/brain science is a little outdated (pre-MRI and such) but still makes for an interesting read.
A shorter and more modern book is Buddha's Brain by psychologist Rick Hanson.

I would seriously do your best to seek professional help. It is great to hear advice from people on the internet, but when you are feeling that low, there is a major imbalance in your brains chemistry.
I've been reading Buddha's Brain( https://www.amazon.com/Buddhas-Brain-Practical-Neuroscience-Happiness-ebook/dp/B003TU29WU/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=buddha%27s+brain&qid=1563809401&s=gateway&sr=8-1 )
It's great background for appreciating the relationship between the mind and the brain. They use Buddhist concepts to show how to influence and change the brain's structure. The difference between the observing self and the thinking self became more clear to me with this understanding.
