I don't know about under $200, but if you're willing to go to $300 I can tell you the answer to this is hands down a Citizen with atomic timekeeping. Look through the list in this link (I've already applied the filters) https://www.citizenwatch.com/us/en/collection/mens/?prefn1=featureFilter&sz=12&start=0&prefv1=Sapphire%20Crystal|Atomic%20Timekeeping and keep in mind you can find these for much lower than the MRSP on Citizen's site

Here I give you:

I would also recommend a solar atomic watch. Currently I have two. One G-Shock GW7900B1 for rugged use and one Citizen AT4007-54E for work/suit.

One slight problem with the GW7900B1 though. It was my first choice overall in the G-Shock series because it combines Shock resistance, Multi-Band 6 and Tough Solar features but after a couple of months only, rivets on the bezel started to fall. Big disapointment. I realised I'm not the only one and found this thread and this thread about the problem and how to order/replace the lost rivets.

My suggestion to you would be the GW2310 or the GW2310FB-1CR if you like reverse display.

It all depends on your budget too.

I'm pretty sure it's the Citizen AT: The Watch

My first “nice” watch was a Citizen AT4007-54E my wife got me like maybe 5-7 years ago (it’s been a while...). I recently realized how awesome having this watch is. The fact that I don’t have to ever wind it like all my other watches is a major plus. I highly recommend Eco-Drive to anyone!

You can do MUCH better for 700 bucks.

Fossil uses mostly chinese and maybe japanese movements for some higher end models.

if you want something made by fossil (CW subcontracts manufacturing to them) get the christipher ward C70 cosc. it has a Eta thermoline (the same used in the breitling superquartz watches) and round around the same price. its a Thermocompensated quartz movement for $790. normal quartzs are accurate to 15 seconds a month, this one is accurate to 10 seconds a year.

you can get a Miyota based Quartz Lumtec chrono for 200 bucks less
http://www.lum-tec.com/collection/current-models/m-chronograph.html

You can directly buy a citizen radio controlled chrono for 250 bucks less. it has a better movement and aslong as you´re under the coverage of a radio signal from atomic clocks it will have the correct time
http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-AT4007-54E-Perpetual-Chrono-Watch/dp/B005BS2NZ6/ref=sr_1_11?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1334353689&sr=1-11

or you can get a tissot automatic chronograph for 600 bucks.

So you might think that 700 bucks for a basic quartz chrono from a fashion brand might be a bit expencive considering the alternatives from more reputable brands.

An equivalent watch from seiko or citizen is around 200 bucks (basic 15 second a month quartz chrono with no solarc charge or atomic clock radio sync). and a basic swiss quartz chrono isnt too expencive either.

Seiko has basic quartz chronos from 80 bucks
http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNDC49-Chronograph-Polished-Bracelet/dp/B004U4XVH6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1334354009&sr=8-3

and citizen has solar powred chronos from less then 200
http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-AT0810-55X-Eco-Drive-Stainless-Steel/dp/B002BWPDFC/ref=sr_1_4?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1334353984&sr=1-4

so i wouldnt buy it. its overpriced and i dislike fossil.

I like kinda old school designs, so I was considering this one. It is big but I think it looks better and cleaner than something like this which has the same functions. Unfortunately I'm not sure I can remember how to use all of them.

The Stilleto is thin an stylish.

Bulova is a brand owned by citizen, perhaps you can get one. I think the Precisionist Chrono is very interesting. They make it in several styles, some are very bold. I kinda like the square one because it's not something you see every day. Watch it in action.

It depends what you want to accomplish really.

Replica: Go with Tag, its known as a nice watch, but they can be found around 1-3k depending on the model on amazon, and are generally the entry level "exotic" watch. Which will fit perfect for you.

Gen: Seiko or Citizen bar none. You can get an excellent piece which will last decades for the same price as a rep (about $300), and look amazing. I have a Citizen AT4007 and a Citizen F900 and I absolutely love them. The F900 was more pricey but was my engagement gift from my wife. Both are Eco drive (solar), both sapphire crystal, so it will never scratch, and both automatically sync up into Towers/GPS every night at midnight so it is just as accurate as your phone. These watches will litterally run for a decade easily. I wore my AT4007 for 5 years, 4 years of which i worked in construction, and the glass is still flawless and I have never had a problem. That to me is one of the best things about my gens, they will always work, always be on time, and always look great. I never worry about having to get maintenance, something breaking, taking it off to go swimming or snorkling ect. It just works.

If you are looking for a nice fancy watch, automatic movement and to kinda stand out, get a rep. But if you want a no-shit everyday watch which looks great, won't have you called out, and is maintenance/worry free, get a gen Seiko or Citizen. I own an Omega CrPO Rep, and I do absolutely love it and love wearing it, but my Citizen F900 is still my work/everyday watch (replaced my AT when I got it). My advice is start with a quartz solar gen, and when you want an automatic then get a fancy rep. No reason you cant have both! :)

I really have a thing for Citizen Ecodrives, I would easily get this!

Citizen Ecodrive AT4007-54E

How about this Citizen chrono? I have the stainless steel version and it's a fantastic watch.

u/whatthefuckguys · 1 pointr/guns

this one

I am of faggot and misremembered the price, I only paid like $460 at the time.

u/catalinus · 1 pointr/Watches

You should look at something like Citizen AS4030 (there are a number of color variations, including one with black ceramic surface). There are also other interesting models from Citizen like this or this if you want a slightly less busy face. All above have sapphire crystal.
