These 2 Citizens should fit the bill:

Citizen AW1236-03A

Citizen BM8475-26E

THIS is a search I did on Amazon for Citizens under $150. There are plenty here that would fit your requirements.

Also, if you find one with something other than a leather band, switching it is super easy. Clockwork Synergy have a line of band that are great quality and easily interchangeable.

Most really rugged watches will be durable, like a Casio G-Shock. The Casio DW-5600 is excellent for that. I'll make a list of some other options!

Literally the same watch, except without the gold accents, and a lot cheaper. And it looks a lot more "professional".

Or, for a more classy look, that's well below your budget... How about this watch

Citizen Eco Drive AW1236-03A Solar powered quartz.

Not really sure exactly what style you want but a nice Seiko 5 field watch would be cool. As far as divers go, quartz is prob your only option under 100. Casio Diver Here is a pretty classic dress watch Citizen Dress or an automatic just over 100 Orient Dress For something ultra-casual G-Shocks are super nice and durable. G-Shock Timex also has some great options

I am looking to get my dad a nice dress watch as a father's gift at my upcoming wedding. Due to the cost of the rest of the wedding I'd like to keep the price under $100. He doesn't wear a watch everyday, but he keeps commenting on my collection and how much he likes them. Three options I have come up with are:

Seiko SNK793: He has commented on liking my SNK795 before, and even with a nice leather strap this will be under $100.

Orient Symphony: Orient is my favorite brand, and I know my Dad would really get a kick out of me telling him that. Plus this is a nice watch.

Citizen Eco Drive AW1236--03A: I don't know a ton about Eco Drives but they seem like a great option for someone who doesn't wear a watch every day.

citizen eco drive aw1236-03a is around the same price on amazon. Looks just as amazing + you get the eco drive technology. Also u have a 5 year warrant. But DW watches do look nice.

I would recommend sticking to brands like Casio, Timex, Citizen, or Orient. Brands like Sturhling, Invicta, Nixon, Fossil etc. aren't quite as good quality and frankly won't be too well received here, not that you should care too much what other people think. Citizen makes really good pieces in that price range, check out these:

With his needs, I'd go with a Citizen. They make plenty of watches that check off all the boxes. Maybe something like the Eco-Drive AW1236-03A?

Yeah, if you're limited to buying at that local store, other reasonable brands that you're likely to find include Seiko, Citizen, and Bulova.

In terms of Automatics, the only brand I can easily find locally is Seiko. Their SNK/SNZ series Seiko 5's and SRP series of automatic watches offer excellent value for money. I was really impressed by this SRP704 that I found locally for around $260:

Citizen Eco Drives are amazing watches. Not as sexy as an automatic, but better by almost every objective measure (accuracy, reliability, durability, power-reserve, environmental effects, thickness/size) and they recharge their battery via Solar power, I've heard these were designed to go 20 years without a service or battery change. You could get a relatively cheap dress watch like this one, that would last you forever:

Bulova is also readily available and is a brand with a great heritage, their Accutron II, Precisionist, and Accu-Swiss lines are all excellent and their high-frequency quartz is one of the most accurate watches in this price range and offers the smooth sweeping seconds hand of an automatic.

What about that new Timex reissue? The Marlin? Not sure who’s selling it yet, but it’s a great looking vintage style hand-winding watch, 34mm, 10mm thick.

Or there’s this Citizen eco-drive.

u/Do_Not_Go_In_There · 0 pointsr/Watches

Yeah, but you don't really have to wind them. Modern mechanical watches are self-winding as they "store" energy using a rotor that automatically winds the spring inside using the movement of your arm/wrist (hence "automatic" watch). Unless you're looking at vintage watches, you will likely never come across a hand-wound watch.

If you leave it off your wrist long enough it could die, I think it cost more to maintain, and it probably won't be as accurate as a cheap (decent) quartz movement.

If you prefer white there's a bunch of options. This one cost $75, here's another that cost $100.
