Citizen BN0150 (Black) or BN0151 (Blue)
Price: $180-$200
Movement: Citizen Eco-Drive (Solar) caliber E168
Style:Diver
Size:44 mm (Without Crown)
Link: Amazon-Black Amazon-Blue
Description:
This is the Solar Quartz version of the Automatic promaster NY0040. It is a very solid watch with a 48 mm lug to lug width, 60 click bezel and 4 o'clock screw down crown. Although it is overshadowed by the SKX007/9 and sometimes overlooked because it's quartz it's actually a plus in this instance. It being solar quartz means that you won't change the battery for 10+ years, and you won't have to unscrew the crown to wind or change the dates except for timezone or daylight savings. This reduces the amount of time the case is opened and the crown is unscrewed which will prevent compromising the water resistance and leaving the crown open by mistake.

Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Diver BN0151-09L ( blue ) or BN0150-28E ( black )

Price: $160-220

Movement: Quartz Eco-Drive E168

Style: Diver

Size: 42mm

Link: Amazon blue Amazon black

Description: A great Eco-Drive diver with a distinctive look. With the solar quartz movement, it keeps great time, it is very durable. The sun from two or three round trips to work in a month are enough to keep it charged up. It comes on a fairly nice PU band. The crown being at 4 o'clock makes it more comfortable, and it wears a bit smaller than the stated 42mm. The bezel is smooth, and while some people don't like the 60 click, smooth operation beats 120 clicks any day, but stays in place better than the Seiko SKX bezel, but moves way better than the Orient Ray or Mako bezel.

Per Request #1: GSHOCK is definitely the sturdiest ever. I've been quite pleased with my Citizen EcoDrive Diver https://www.amazon.com/Citizen-Eco-Drive-BN0151-09L-Promaster-Diver/dp/B00PXVU3GM. It runs entirely on solar power. I know the GSHOCK has a solar version, but the data I've seen doesn't convince me it runs any longer than the regular version.

The Citizen is sturdy to the specifications I think you'd require, and it is more fashion-flexible than the GSHOCK. It doesn't have a timer/chrono/alarm, but I find that I don't need that option when I have my phone. And if I need a timer not on my phone, I'm in a situation where the rotating bezel suffices.

Edit: And check out r/onebag for more backpack info.

$147 on Amazon, 200 meter water resistance, no batteries needed, and date window. Added a $9 nato strap from Amazon as well. The default strap was a little annoying. So far, I've been very pleased with the performance of the watch. Perfect for daily banging around and not being scared of damaging it. I'm partial to the blue myself.

Here's the link for the watch. Here's the link for the strap.

Ah, a scuba themed wrist watch. In particular with a rotating bezel.

Not a dive computer or something that gives me data. More like the name of a "dive watch" that used to have a purpose before dive computers, but have fallen out of use. Purely for aesthetics and the fun rotating bezel that reminds me of diving and the history of dive watches

I'm the proud owner of both an SKX007 and a 009, and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

I also own an Orient Blue Ray, which is a very nice watch. I think I prefer the SKXs to them though, I think they have an overall cleaner look and the bezel action is a lot smoother. I don't think you can go wrong at all really though with any of these.

Another one you could consider:

Citizen Promaster

I rather like wearing a watch, and decided to add a dive watch when I started diving. The first thing to decide is movement - battery, solar, or mechanical. For diving... I honestly think Solar is a great choice. No battery to replace, but also doesn't need service like mechanical. Citizen uses the "Eco-Drive" name for their solar, while Seiko just calls them "Seiko Solar". Seiko Kinetic is a similar thing - quartz watch with a movement based charging system - but they have a reputation for crapping out. The solar ones are basically bulletproof.

As you may know, if you want to dive a watch, simply getting something that says '200m water resist' isn't really enough. Watches that meet ISO6425 standards (which are specs for dive watches) will show 'Diver's 200m'. The proofing and testing is different, and the '200m/20atm' watches aren't necessarily dive ready. Wikipedia has a reasonable explanation of the testing differences. At the very least, you need a screw-down crown. Anything that says "Diver's 200m" on it will have that and be sufficiently reliable for diving work. Anything that says '300m' should be sufficient for at least basic diving... anything lower you're just going to have to ask the watch community about that particular watch specifically.

So - all that aside. Recommendations based on the digging I did while I was shopping. I ended up with an Orange Seiko Solar Diver. The Citizen Promaster divers are nice as well.

The 'Entry Level' seems to be this Casio. It's battery powered, but should last a long long time. It doesn't say Divers 200, but they have a reputation for lasting.

Cheap end of mechanical, the Vostok Amphibia. It's a completely different concept than the more traditional dive watch - uses soft seals and pressure to seal itself, rather than a hardened case. 'Automatic' or 'Self-Winding' mechanical, but it has a bi-directional bezel, meaning you can't really use the bezel for timing like you can on a true 'Dive Watch'. You can get em with a little scuba man on them, though. There's a bunch of different style Vostoks, but they're all functionally the same. Good watches.

Moving up in price a bit, Seiko makes some very nice mechanical dive watches. There's the SKX007, the SKX009, the 'Monster' watches (Available in Black, White and Orange), and some of my favorite looks - the Blue Lagoon and Turtle.

If you want to throw stupid money at the problem, my buddy has one of these Marathon watches which he loves dearly. They're one of the few divers you can get with actual radioactive tubes, so you don't have to charge the lume hands up in the sun.

My recommendation would be a Citizen Promaster in blue or black. It's tough, and an eco drive, which means you never have to replace the battery.

hey guys I've recently got a citizen promaster diver watch would love to put a stainless steel bracelet on it. Anybody know where I can find an OEM bracelet for it? or atleast a bracelet from citizen that can fit on it? its has 20mm lugs if that helps.

I've always been partial to the Citizen BN0151-09L Promaster and Seiko SKX007K. The only thing that might turn some people off is that it's quartz and has a rubber strap. Personally I like the strap because it looks more "adventurous"

I was debating between those two (or the SKX009 and Mako II), but ended up with the Citizen Promaster diver. I couldn't find a ton of comparisons between the 3 but I mostly opted for the Citizen cuz it's not quite as thick as the other 2 divers (probably because it's not automatic but eco-drive). Plus it was on sale for $149 at jomashop and they don't charge tax in my state
