I'll interpret "guy stuff" as "EDC stuff".

• A Flowfold Minimalist slim wallet
  
• A Zebra F-701 stainless steel pen with a Fisher Space refill so it can write anywhere. This isn't a "tactical" pen by LE/TSA standards, but is a solid stainless steel tube, if you know what I mean.
  
• If you prefer something smaller, a Fisher Space Bullet Space Pen and/or a Zebra Mini mechanical pencil TS-3.
  
• You might also want something to write on, and a 3-pack of Field Notes, Pitch Black Edition in Dot-Grid isn't a bad choice unless you're into fountain pens, in which case you'd be better served with a Clairefontaine or. Rhodia pocket notebook. (They will feather fountain pen ink less, resulting in finer lines.)
  
  Bonus item: This isn't under $30, but $45 wil buy you a Leatherman Skeletool, which is one of the most universally useful items I own.

Ah, okay. In that case, stay on the lookout for the Clairefontaine grid lined 3.5x5.5 staple bound notebook. I can't find anyone that carries it online, but I got one at a local stationery store.

It's a very very tiny bit wider than 3.5", but it's a 48 sheet/96 pager. The cover is an ugly one, like this. It should be around that price ($8 for 3 plus shipping).

Edit: and I'm not blasting the Banditapple Peewee at you on purpose, because I have a feeling you'd find it dry and toothy if you love the Rhodia/Clairefontaine paper. =)
