I use a treadmill desk at home. I found that I can walk at approximately 2.5mph without losing my typing form, but sometimes I do go a bit faster and sacrifice on some typing skills. I use an approximately 10% incline.

At first, I used some online "mph to calorie" calculators as well to track the number of calories that I was burning. The calculators told me that I would be burning roughly 365 calories per hour, which seemed pretty reasonable -- and I think this is a pretty large number.

After a while I started calculating by using heart rate and I found that the mph->cal calculator was way off -- I was burning about 1.7x what it reported. I think this is a significant calorie burn, personally; so I disagree with this part of the article.

I'd let you have this one for $100. It works well, but it's not as nice as the ones you'll find at a gym.
