I posted a few times on here and wanted to give an update for people who had the B450 Tomahawk. I just returned mine to Best Buy yesterday and bought the B450 Gaming Plus off of Amazon. I took it out, plugged the ATX 24 pin power into it and flashed it with the most recent gaming plus USB once. The red CPU light was still on when it restarted, and I turned it off. Put everything back into my case and booted up and worked with no issues.

I am installing windows now. My specs:

have you been to pcpartspicker.com?

You can start a build with that CPU and then select compatible parts based on price, reviews, and availability.

I just built a system based on the same CPU and motherboard. Here is the harddrive I used:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KGMBCKD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and the memory:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B2Y1N8B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and the power supply:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077V57T7K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used an Inwin 301 case but I would not recommend it as the cable management is a little fiddly and the front panel has a giant LED plate that is not RGP controllable and can't be turned off or dimmed.

With your budget, you might look into getting him a 240mm all-in-one water cooler so he can plan with overclocking. Something like this would be sufficient:

725 for the system parts is not bad. But 500gb SSD will run out super quick.

The case is preference ofc, but 91 quid when you're spending 725 on the system seems much. Power Supply you can get much cheaper if you don't go for modular: https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-WHITE-Power-Supply-100-W1-0600-K3/dp/B01127D0MY/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=power+supply&qid=1574334004&sr=8-6

Every pound counts. The more you saved on these conveniences, the more you can spend on GPU. Sure you'll have ever so slightly harder time cable managing it, maybe case won't be full of RGB, but how often will you stare at it? 3600mhz ram might be overkill, 3000mhz for 50ish saves more. The benefit of high frequency ram on ryzen 3 might not be worth all that extra money. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07B2Y1N8B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1

Some extra savings could be have with different mobo. Pump the savings into extra SSD and better GPU and you've got a killer system.

Thank you, well spotted as I didn't see it had a cooler. Thanks. Yes done the ram to this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07B2Y1N8B/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1 and I think 400w will be ok. Update - https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-WHITE-Power-Supply-100-W1-0500-K3/dp/B01E4YRP8W# 500w PSU for same price as the 400w.

I would change ram for higher frequency, better power supply and cheaper b450 motherboard.

Corsair Vengeance RAM comes highly recommended. This 3000 MHz, CL16, 2 pack of 8 is $78 right now (Link). You can also check r/buildapcsales for deals on RAM.

Would something like this be better?

Corsair 3000MHz

u/Shoky987 · 2 pointsr/HardwareSwapUK

Not interested in buying, just thought I'd let you know that you can find 3000MHz new on amazon for just 12 pounds more.

u/Morduluck · 1 pointr/buildapc

That seals the deal then! Guess i'll order the 2600x and the cheaper mainboard then. One last question before I can finally place an order :
[I found these RAM Sticks] (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07B2Y1N8B/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&psc=1) and they are almost the same except C15/C16. I've read that it has something to do with latency/speed, yet I couldn't find out if spending 17€ more would be worth it in my case.

Yes, it’s down below in the similar items section. Here

When I say driver error im referring to the blue screen code windows gives me, which is IRQL_not_less_or_equal or something of that nature. I have 2 modules, this is my RAM https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B2Y1N8B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

Yes. Perfect, except there's cheaper RAM https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B2Y1N8B/?tag=pcpapi-20

Great price, how does this ram compare to this corsair ram feel like I'm missing something?

u/XxGhost14xX · 1 pointr/buildapc
  1. Will you be overclocking?

  2. Do you need this computer right now?

  3. For ram you can get this ram for $20 cheaper

I have a https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/Z97A/specifications/ - I have G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL purchased 5 years ago.

If I purchased: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07B2Y1N8B/?tag=pcp0f-21&th=1 - (3000mhz) Would the newer ram just be limited to 1600mhz?

2 of the things are prime day items, so act fast.

u/runfastination · 1 pointr/buildapc

Would it make the most sense then from a cost efficiency perspective to just buy 16x2 of Corsair, the same RAM speed (or should I get 3866)? How do I know if I can get Dual Channel?

I noticed that 3000 vs. 3200 vs. 3866 there is a pretty big difference in price for 2x8.

Is there any difference between these two besides price?

I'm thinking of buying a Ryzen 3600 and am wondering what RAM to buy. I saw another post mentioning Hynix vs Samsung and got slightly worried. Someone else also mentioned I could overclock either 3000/3200 to 3733 (optimal frequency for Ryzen apparently) and so it wouldn't matter which one I would get.

I'm currently thinking of buying one of these sets:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMW16GX4M2C3200C16W-Vengeance-Enthusiast-Illuminated/dp/B07D5SN1ZK/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=rgb+16gb+ram&qid=1562968837&s=gateway&sr=8-1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMK16GX4M2D3000C16-Vengeance-Performance-Desktop/dp/B07B2Y1N8B/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=16gb+ram&qid=1562969143&s=gateway&sr=8-3

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMK16GX4M2B3200C16-Vengeance-Performance-Desktop/dp/B0143UM4TC/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=16gb+ram&qid=1562969156&s=gateway&sr=8-4

My other specs will be:

GPU: GTX 1060 3GB

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

Mobo: B350 Tomohawk (Arctic)

Essentially I'm not sure what matters for buying RAM (especially for Ryzen) other than its frequency. Are these choices good or should I go for something entirely different?

Thanks for any help!

u/JacobNordhoff · 0 pointsr/HardwareSwapUK

Might want to lower your price slightly as you can get it from Amazon for under £100.

u/vtaxiarchis · 0 pointsr/buildapc

I would suggest the following upgrades to begin with (first 3 at once) and you can add more later on.

  1. CPU => 9th gen Intel Core i5 9600K Processor (Amazon ES), 264,90€
  2. CPU cooling => Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition Tower (Amazon ES), 39,99€
  3. Motherboard => Gigabyte Z390 UD (Amazon ES), 141,71€or Asus Intel LGA 1151 ATX (Amazon ES), 152€
  4. Memory => Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8GB) 16GB 3000MHz (Amazon ES), 126,21€
  5. Graphics => ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 2060 Twin Fan 6GB GDDR6 (Amazon ES), 375.45€
  6. Case => Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1 (Amazon ES), 55,90€

    Overall cost: 1003€ ( or 1014€ )
