Hmm, probably dying during the test, or being disabled as a result.
Does it eventually eventually clear and re-enable? One thing I found that's sucked is it alerts you when a fault happens, but not when it clears.
Personally, I would at least pull the SPS and look at the battery dates. If you haven't done anything with the SPSs since purchase, my bet is the batteries are shot.
Wow... it's coming up on 2 years since I did this. So here's what I have. The battery model is HRL634WF2, it's a 6v 34W F2 connector battery. Amazon and ATBatt have them.
Dell or EMC (if you can get one of them to talk to you), would want you to replace the entire SPS, which iirc, is several hundred.
I did the individual batteries, we ordered 10. I believe it's 5 per SPS, and I did both. Replaced the one that was yelling, then once it was confirmed all good, I did the second.
Also, since you may be in the same boat, the last time we had a drive die and needed to order more spares, we went through (iStorageNetworks)[http://www.istoragenetworks.com/] (No affiliation, just a vendor we used for drives).
I was hoping to move this SAN to our secondary site for backup/redundancy, but sadly it looks like I'm going to be stuck with it for a while.
