The Razer Blade Stealth is honestly pretty overpriced for what you get. You can get something much more capable for ~$700-$800 that could gladly play whatever games you want it to, and shouldn't have terrible battery life either when not gaming.
Also, keep in mind you could gladly fit a modest mid-range build that can walk all over most gaming laptops into an HTPC case for $800-$1000 and still have money leftover for a beefy work laptop if you can afford $1500 for the Razer Blade Stealth.
In my opinion, if you have been using high-end PC specs (i7, GTX 870), you won't feel comfortable with using low performance processors of ultraportable laptops. The more sluggish feel of the laptop compared to your PC can be more or less annoying.
So I'd suggest getting a (slightly) bigger laptop because the difference in performance outweights the difference in weight (unless you plan to buy feather-light laptops like HP Spectre or LG Gram).
Check out this Dell Inspiron 7567 . It is a bit heavier, but has a sturdy chassis with a huge battery and a discrete GTX 1050, so you can play most game at medium or even high settings. Oh and it has backlit keyboard (red only, though).
I have this Laptop and it's pretty damn good for the price range, the i7 is good and so is the GPU.
Since gaming is for main focus the Acer Aspire VX 15 from amazon is a good choise, IPS screen for a wide viewing angle and a GTX 1050Ti graphics card , my only issue with is is the small storage space so the
Dell Inspiron with a GTX 1050 graphics card is an alternate No IPS so your viewing angle would be limited
Something like this?
You could get this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XFGF7SN/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491666996&sr=8-1
It has an i7 7700HQ and a 1050ti, should perform better and is the same price. There is also an i5 version that is think is $800 but it is out of stock on Amazon right now now. Hope this helps you figure something out.
Yes storage is low but it's SSD which is far more faster than older mechanical HDD. Other specs like CPU, RAM and GPU are best for the price.
There's also empty space to put in extra hard drive or an SSD inside which will cost you about $25 - $30 extra. Process is hassle free you'll find lot of YouTube videos to do that on your own or you can just take it to Acer service and they will be happy to do that for you.
Other cheaper laptop that I would recommend is this Dell inspiron - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XFGF7SN/
It comes in different variants with varied specs and prices.
Is this deal for the Dell Inspiron Gaming Laptop - 15.6" Full HD, Core i7- 7700HQ, 8 GB RAM, 1000 GB HDD + 128GB SSD, GTX 1050, Metal Chassis - i5577-7359BLK-PUS - $699 (Lightning deal) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XFGF7SN/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 better than the BF Acer Nitro 5?
Some do. Here's one:
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN
It's mainly because of size. Typically you only see the full size keyboard on 15-17" laptops, because any smaller and you would have to make the keys extra small which may make them difficult to use.
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1521519418&sr=1-2&keywords=dell+5577+i7
I have one like this and it's great! Runs everything I've thrown at it... at ultra! Even Arma 3, which is very demanding. Especially on CPU. Also as of now buying a prebuilt may be cheaper.
Ryzens are highly praised for being good, but there are some to avoid. As I'm not a AMD fan, I don't know which ones to get other than a Ryzen 5 is best if your gaming and a Ryzen 7 if you also make videos.
As for a GPU the GTX 1050 ti is fine for 1080p gaming, especially for ESports titles like CS:GO and Overwatch.
For RAM you'll want 8GB minimum. Also an SSD is typically much better than a HDD or a Hybrid Drive.
Dell Inspiron Gaming Laptop - 15.6" Full HD, Core i7- 7700HQ, 8 GB RAM, 1000 GB HDD + 128GB SSD, GTX 1050, Metal Chassis - i5577-7359BLK-PUS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0tPPAbR6BM7RZ
This is a great computer everything you need gtx 1050 128 gb ssd with a 1tb hardrive A intel core i7 7700Hq 8gb of ram and a back lit keyboard I read some reviews and it can play new games on high I have a gtx 970 I can play ever aaa game at 1080p medium to high settings at 60 FPS so you should be perfectly fine with the gtx 1050 and it’s 800$
If you can stretch to 900 dollars i'd jump straight to this (i really really suggest it) but if it is a hard limit this this should work well too.
Post the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 you are looking for, cause there are countless different configurations. The closest I could find in Amazon based on your limited info are:
Hi,
I am someone who works in the digital media production industry, so I kind of have the same computer requirements as your friend. Last year, I bought a Dell Inspiron gaming laptop. Although I rarely game on it, the laptop handles Adobe CS very well. My laptop has a GeForce 960 graphics card, i5 cpu, 225 gb ssd (extra storage can be installed, I have a 1tb hdd), 8gb ram (can be upgraded to 16, I've upgraded mine). Dell tends to make these laptops every year or so, here is the most current model:
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1500328625&sr=1-1&keywords=dell+inspiron&refinements=p_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A3012497011
This is not a bad deal if you're willing to go up $100
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1499194073&sr=1-7&keywords=HP+Omen+15
Maybe this Dell Inspiron, but I do think the Acer Aspire is a better machine, although the red is a bit much. Even this one has red highlights.
For $800 you can have a Dell Inspiron 7000 series. The battery lasts as long as you requested in real life performance, SSD + HD, 5.5-6 pounds, 15" screen. Comes with a GTX 1050 and can play most titles at a reasonable quality setting. Modelling software will operate reasonably as well. Minecraft will be fine. The build quality is pretty good in my opinion - there is sufficient ventilation and the repairability / expansion options are simple (one screw to open the bottom of the laptop). As to lasting for four years.. that depends entirely on you!
The only con I've noticed so far is the viewing angle for the screen is narrowly limited, it's one of those not so good TN (?) panels mentioned in the sidebar. Try it out in a Best Buy or computer store and see if it bugs you.
Amazon Link
is battery life or weight an issue (you should consider the fact that you will be carrying them daily and using them during class, if yes then this dell would be a great option, the screen is kinda meh, but it comes with great battery life, 1050 GPU for your gaming, and within budget, it also comes with 8 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 128GB for faster boot up and loading, 1 TB of HDD for storage.
The Dell Inspiron gaming laptops are nice, heres one for exactly 900 https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-GeForce-Graphics-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN
The Inspiron line could be okay then. You can get one with a SSD in 128GB and a regular HDD in 1TB at 5400rpm, with 8GB of RAM and an i7 7700HQ last I saw for around $790 on Amazon.
Bonus, it includes a 4GB GTX 1050ti, so the graphics shouldn't suffer much for videos or Fortnite.
Edit: Here's the link.
Buy a laptop with the gtx-10 series cards, the performance is too good to ignore and if you're spending $1000 you don't want to get something that falls apart in a year. Go for something like this that will at hopefully be good specs for the money. Do not buy the laptop you linked above.
Here are some options
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XFGF7SN/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502006745&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=dell+gaming+laptop&dpPl=1&dpID=41zfabBnrLL&ref=plSrch

These are 850$ but you can change the GPU from 1050 to 1050 ti but you'll have to add 30-60$ more

Found this one. Pretty good I’d say, just upgrade the ram when you get it. It can hold up to 32gb
Just purchased this myself and may be what you're looking for:

Based on your game selection , a heavy duty gaming laptop is not for you , I would say. You may get angry at me but let me first justify .
I checked the games you have mentioned and mostly they don't require a high-end graphics card or processor to play , like the requirement for Hollow Knight is GTX9800 .
Also since you mentioned that you are going to be deployed soon , buying a mediocre laptop should suffice for now , cause once you return you can buy a better gaming laptop to play with .
But I will give you some models to check out for such as MSI , Dell Inspiron and [Acer] (https://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-575G-57D4-15-6-Inches-Notebook-i5-7200U/dp/B01LD4MGY4/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1501957387&sr=1-4&keywords=acer+laptop).
We can probably discuss more details if you require .
This laptop has a GTX 1050, 8gb of ram (upgradable to 16), and an i7-7700HQ.
It's $1,390 + shipping and tax.

If you'd like the save some money, there is one that has an i5, but in my opinion the ~$85 is well worth it for hyperthreading, but also the higher end model comes with a 1tb hard drive.
Hey there!
I'm also on the look out for one for the Mrs....that doesn't look too gamer-ey either.
Have you had a look at the Dell Inspiron 15?
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-GeForce-Graphics-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1502450537&sr=1-6&keywords=dell+inspiron+15+5000
If you want to do some gaming on the side, my friend picked one of these up to prepare early (and to use during senior year) you'll spend less than a mac and get more power out of it and be able to use it for more than internet and writing papers
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-GeForce-Graphics-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1503771791&sr=8-3&keywords=inspiron+15+5000+gaming
Here is a great one, I own a slightly older version of it and I can say it has been very reliable. Good specs for 900$
Do you think the specs the newer version has over that one is worth the TN screen
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-i5577-7359BLK-PUS-Traditional/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&ref_=dp_ob_neva_mobile#featureBulletsAndDetailBullets_secondary_view_div_1492720618751
Me and my dad were about to order a much worse laptop (it's a graduation present) before we clicked on your link. We went to the newest version of the laptop you suggested and it had everything we wanted and more. Seriously, we were blown away at how amazing of a laptop it was and it came right under budget.
Thank you very very much man, it gets here on Tuesday and I can't wait :)
This is the laptop:
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-i5577-7359BLK-PUS-Traditional/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
Still looking around, I like that Acer Aspire but it's above what I want to spend, realistically looking to spend less than $900. Looking at this
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=psdc_13896615011_t4_B01MR82G0W?th=1 and also https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTVAFTV/ref=psdc_13896615011_t4_B01N4EJDAB but not sure if I would find the touchscreen useful for producing/mixing
Great thanks for your suggestion! , Not really a fan of gaming look but those specs at that price it's tempting. Is there a similar laptop but another brand? maybe lenovo ?
What do you think about this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN/
If you need something right now, this laptop should do fine.
https://www.amazon.com/i5-6300HQ-keyboard-Microsoft-signature-Anti-Glare/dp/B01LXCBXQO
Then later build a full desktop PC. That laptop will do fine for a few years of light gaming/gaming at lower settings.
If battery life is a big deal, this Dell laptop should be good for longer battery life. It's all around better, but costs more.
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN
Honestly, not as updated, but my 1050 hasn’t performed too shabbily either.
My laptop: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_pj20Cb7NN6HCR
Obviously you want something with an i7 and a dGPU. I would say something that has the MX150 or GTX1050 to stay within the price limit and depending on how big the laptop should be, I can recommend these:
Of course, these are just the links to the general systems. Make sure you get the right configuration with either a 512GB SSD or a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD so you can store all your files on the system. The first Asus and the HP are both gaming laptops so they're slightly bigger and the battery lasts less long. The ones with the MX150 are generally smaller and should last longer.
Follow up question to my question earlier: Ano ang pinakamagandang specs na pwedeng piliin dito?
For streaming, you might want a better processor. This might be better: link. From just a quick glance, it has much better specs for only $50 more.
I just bought this from Amazon here a couple hours ago. Got it used in very good condition for $749 including tax. Was this a bad buy?
Edit: had the wrong link. It's the one with the i7 processor not i5.
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1498583567&sr=8-2&keywords=Inspiron+15+7000+Gaming
What do you think of this version? Has 128 gigs SSD and costs $ 800
For an additional $40 you can get a 7th gen intel core I7 with 1 TB hdd and 128 gb ssd. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=twister_B06XYM29GY

That laptops $850. The i5-7200U is dual core.
Around that price point, you can find gaming laptops with four cores and discrete GPUs. The benefits are:
Here's a couple of example gaming laptops:
You should probably look up the recommended laptop for the software you plan to run. (Your software might benefit more from a GTX 1060 than hyperthreading, for instance.)
I found this while looking for explanations as to why my friends laptop wasnt running the game well, in his case it was cuz hes an idiot and it wasnt plugged in correctly.
In your case its because you bought a computer with a 920M in it. That is garbage. Sorry about your troubles.
Try somethign like this if you get the chance https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q&tag=ad-backfill-amzn-no-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B06XFGF7SN
I saw this one also and it has both. would this work?
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=dp_ob_title_ce?th=1
For graphic design you will need a powerful processor preferably an i7 quad core, above 8 GB RAM (16 GB is nice), a solid graphics card and of course, good storage is always important. It is also paramount that if you will be doing this intensively, then you get a laptop with a decent heat management system that will ensure that heat doesn't affect the performance of your laptop while completing important projects.
In that budget, based on the performance power that you might need in completing some of your tasks, I would go for something like this Dell Inspiron i5577-7359BLK-PUS that has the powerful 7th gen i7 quad core processor, 8 GB RAM, fast SSD plus 1 TB HDD and of course, a GTX 1050 dedicated graphics card that will suffice in tasks that demand a solid graphics card and of course, it will do excellently in the games you mentioned.
I think there's a similar one with a 1060 that's closer to $1k if you dig a little
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ac-WAbFXSXHM5
I had 30-40 FPS in 24 man, but now I have 40-50 in 12 man. I bought my laptop last Christmas, but they have a new version now for the same price. The new one rocks a GTX 1050m while mine still has the GTX 960m.

This looks similar but you either get 16 gb ram and NO ssd or below comes with 8gb (easily expandable) plus 128gb ssd: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-GeForce-Graphics-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN
thanks again man!
I missed out on this one https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1511843793&sr=8-3&keywords=dell+inspiron%5C
Would've been ideal for me
Okay, here are three candidates I pulled from shopineer, all under 700.

All of these have 7 hours of battery or higher, decent graphics cards, great CPUs, and good build quality. PM me if you need any more suggestions or if you want to narrow your search a little more.
For the higher end, I would definitely recommend this guy, very good bang for the buck, at least when just looking at ingame performance.
In fact, I think I might actually buy that one..
EDIT: The ones you linked aren't that good to be honest, another one I would suggest is this one.
