For a grown-up bed, I find that a more "grown-up" style might be appealing. However, it can still be fun!
First of all [these] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00D6PJ3ZE?qid=1405387428&qid=1405387428&qid=1405387428&sr=8-5&sr=8-5&sr=8-5) are the Best sheets. Jersey knit makes me feel like I'm wrapped up in my comfiest, softest t-shirt.
Next, you mentioned you like yellow. I suggested gray sheets because I think gray and yellow to great together. I personally would also chose a gray bedspread of some sort. I've always been into different fandoms and whatnot, but at some point I decided to change to a more adult style and put all the memorabilia type stuff in my fun room. My bedding makes my whole room feel a lot more clean and welcoming. I don't mean that in a bad way, I just grew to love a more muted, adult style than I thought I would, and you might too!
If you want some more whimsical bedding though I found a marauders map throw earlier that is in my wishlist! You'd probably like it as well! :)
