My Switch was starting to get a little scratched up so this seemed like a cost effective solution.

I believe it is because Nintendo did a Nintendo and uses a standard that is different from actual USB C universal standard. This results in complications during power delivery or something like that. I also hate the taco as it just keeps the heat in and was actually discoloring the back of my switch since I use mine in dock mode 99.99999 percent of the time. I ended up getting a shell replacement and calling it a day.

I don’t know why the other guy git downvoted, that’s exactly what I did. Purchased a DIY switch dock mold, found a switch dock on sale through google express for about 55 dollars, gutted that dock and put the board into the mold. The one I got came with really simple instructions on how to do it. That’s your best bet, that way you don’t have to deal with the anxiety of wondering if the third-party dock will brick your Switch.
