Agreed. I got this guy, very helpful in determining serving sizes (for dry pasta I think the suggested weight for each person is something like 54 grams).

Your eating routine is not why you gained weight.

The amount of food you’re eating is why you gained weight.

There is only one way to lose weight: eat less calories than your body burns.

The easiest way to determine calories in is by counting calories. The easiest way to determine calories out is by

  • downloading a fitness tracking app like MyFitnessPal
  • Putting in your height / weight / gender / age
  • Setting your activity level to sedentary or not very active
  • Set your goal to lose 1lb a week (500kcal per day deficit)

Many foods have barcodes and all produce has a USDA entry of calories per gram. Because of this you will also need a food scale. Personally I recommend this one.

All fast food restaurants have calorie information posted on their website or on their menu. Many have calculators such as dominos and chipotle.

Remember that you can eat literally any foods at any times and lose weight as long as your calories in is less than your calories out, but the healthier choices you make the easier it will be to not overeat and stick to your calorie allowance.

I have a Primo Digital Scale. Its easy to turn on/off/tare & to switch between grams & ounces.

Oh yeah that's a good idea. I had checked this one out and saved it a couple weeks ago: Escali Primo Digital Multifunctional Scale.
