I've been there. It's tough. The real question is have you really prioritized your spending? Like really done so. Once you have paid for the absolute essentials, what is left over? Video games, netflix, beers, snacks which are not nutritious, going out to eat at any point in time, buying coffee at any point in time that is not a date... these things are not essential. I locked down spending hard, I went out to eat literally once per semester at the end to celebrate. Famous Daves both times. If you have a cafeteria plan, run TRAIN on that buffet and then blast out some lifts. Absolute perfect opportunity to build muscle. There's a reason NFL players eat buffet style as part of their job.

When you don't have the cash you must sacrifice other things first. I gave plasma biweekly until they stabbed clean through my vein and I passed out, leaving me with a bruise that went from wrist to shoulder. It was good enough cash though

Second, you can get decent clothes at second hand stores for waaaay less money. You don't need to be fashionable. You just need good looking clothes that fit you well. For example, if you can go get a second hand Henley shirt that fits tightly (provided you lift... you lift right?) it will look good and cost like $10. Fit > Everything else. As long as they make sense in your context. Luckily in college most everyone is broke, so you only need to look better than other college bros. If you cant spend on a nice haircut, go with a buzz. They are masculine and super low maintenance. If you cant afford even a trimmer off Craigslist you're either 100% broke or not prioritizing it. Where there's a will there's a way

Example outfit available secondhand that shouldnt be too hard:

  • dark form fitting jeans
  • tight fighting henley
  • decent looking pawnshop watch
  • some sort of metal necklace (<$15)
  • Buzz cut
  • facial hair
  • this cologne http://www.amazon.com/Estelle-Ewen-Toilette-Spray-Ounce/dp/B0037ZM5OY (smells great -- sweet and not too musky, very inexpensive)

Done. As long as you lift, that will look good and be cheap as dirt. Don't leave out the accessories. SMV PLUMMETS if you look "boring," you want to look approachable -- not so flashy you get pegged as a monkeyboy PUA jester, but not so boring that you get pegged as BB. You want to have an edge that makes chicks think that you're fundamentally good, but you have some issues "they can fix." Thus -- tatts, leather jacket, etc. Those are not cheap though.

Last point, if you are taking out loans already for school, take out a little extra for this. DO NOT USE THIS AS AN EXCUSE TO SPEND RECKLESSLY! However, I definitely made the choice to pay back a little extra debt later and be able to capitalize on the wealth of opportunity that is college. Just don't be an idiot and buy stupid shit with that money.
