It's well made, looks great and the SP3 with the keyboard fits inside perfect. In the outside pocket I have the (Charger, Hub, Mini Display port , Toshiba 1Tb hard drive and the pen). It's the best I have seen yet, and you can't beat the price.
Well, it did have the keyboard cover from MS on it at the time, and while my backpack has a separate area in the rear of the large part specifically for laptops/tablets I'd be lying if I described it as padded, at least no more than the rest of the bag. It does have light padding and leather at the base, which was where it landed. It seemed like the corner of the Surface is what took the hit, and it resulted in shattering the corner of the screen.
Today though I just ordered a bag to put in my backpack that I think will really help protect it moving forward, and the price wasn't too insane either. (http://amzn.com/B00KGTQECI)
I just got my SP4, I went and ordered this case off Amazon. Really liking it so far! Nice snug fit, holds a few extra items in the front zipper (power cord, extra cell battery, SD cards, etc). Nice purchase for $23.
