/u/Pbballer19 - I have owned both Nikon and Canon DSLRs and would avoid both of them for video.
In this price class, Nikon DSLRs lack:
Canon DSLRs lack:
Plus, most Canon DSLRs suffer from a phenomenon known as "moire" as the result of poor downscaling. Panasonic G and GH cameras, on the other hand, have a better downscaling algorithm. Here are a couple of side-by-sides between the Canon 60D and a moire-resistant Panasonic GH camera:
Newer Canon cameras are not much better. Here is a side-by-side between the Canon 60D and 70D:
Instead of a DSLR, you might want to consider a moire-resistant [Panasonic G6 body for $432.94] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EDN0PF0/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00EDN0PF0&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20).

The Panasonic G6 can record at 1080/60p for smooth slow motion, has an electronic viewfinder that keeps working when you shoot video, is compatible with affordable power zoom lenses, can record for hours continuously (very useful for recording plays, speeches, lectures and events) and features a built-in intervalometer for time lapse.

It's a pretty good still camera too: https://www.flickr.com/groups/lumix-g6/pool/
To be fair, DSLRs are probably a better still cameras- but Panasonic G cameras are a much better all-around choice for both video and stills than a DSLR.
Hope this is helpful, good luck with whatever camera you decide to buy and best of the holidays!
Hi /uCentrill - congrats on the new GH2! I still have mine and I love that camera. With a $150 lens budget, I recommend:
I own the adapter and the 50mm lens (pictured on the right [here] (https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gVr8wdjjVyU/UpnGGaj0IfI/AAAAAAAAI7A/CmmB7b3W_Lk/w815-h543-no/S1030005.JPG)) and Canon FDs are great starter lenses for the GH2.
Hope this is helpful and good luck with your new camera!

Indeed but it was like 12 bucks on amazon

here is one for example
Also, you get lenses pretty cheap that look really good and it's also a good way learning the principles of photography such as aperture and shutter speed and ISO. Because they are full manual.
You can get Canon FD lenses for cheap with an adapter:

And these are just some examples, I wouldn't pay more than $100 for an old Canon FD lens.
