The heatsink and cosmetic cover is fine, but the thermal pads are not. Does the heatsink even get hot for you? If the VRM section is @ 120C, the heatsink should be hot enough that you wouldn't want to keep your hand on it.

Replacing the thermal pad can help:

I used the same thermal paste.
The biggest change is the thermal pads that turn the back panel into a passive cooler.
I used Fujipoly smart Extreme X-e Thermal Pad 11.0 W/mK https://www.amazon.com/Fujipoly-mod-smart-Extreme-Thermal/dp/B00ZSJQX0E I put 2 layers of 1mm thermal pads on CPU and the heat pipe from above the CPU to halfway to the fan. Plus 1mm of pads on the cooling fins on the fan discharge.

I followed the instructions on this post to adjust the bios:

Although I set my temp limits at 80C instead of 85C. Not that it matters with the cooling I have I can't get the CPU above 70C.

Running the Prime 95 stress tests for 30 minutes. My CPU went straight to 100% at full 2559-2620Hz speed and my CPU temp climbed to 70 C. In normal operation 59 C is the peak temperature after hours of heavy use. This is right after the repaste before the paste had a chance to cook.

I hope this helps. You don't need the exact brand of paste or pads I used, I just included them in case anyone was curious.

I should give credit; the thermal pad post I saw was by ZiggyDeath and the BIOS settings were by neoak.

I am please with the way my system has worked out. I hope you are pleased with yours.

Have a good one.

Of course, NVMe PCIe have much higher bandwidth than SATA, and the reputable SSDs will have 4-5 times performance than SATA SSDs.

However, on the day-to-day regular use, one can't really tell that much difference. It can be a second faster on boot, but most of us don't boot that much or even care. It can shave 5 seconds off loading a game that takes 30 seconds, but that's not exactly earth shattering.

The only time that it is really really fast is if you use the fast sequential reads/writes, which is copying super large files like a large 1080p+ video or a virtual machine file > 10GB. Then the difference is there.

I don't even put my game on faster NVMe drive anymore, but on a replaced 1TB SATA drive since it's cheaper. I'm now even thinking about buying the 2TB SATA drive to put more games on.

As for the thernmal pad, I use Fujipoly (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZSJQX0E). I don't know how effective it is or if it really makes a difference as I didn't compare temps. It just happens I have some around from other projects. It may not be good idea to put it on as Samsung EVO is designed to have its own way of dissipating heat.

This is quite literally what I ordered & used. Had a little leftover after doing my Asus Strix 1080 - with a dab or kryonaut as well.
