It's pretty common for ear pads to wear out over time, and two years of regular use would certainly do it. As long as you aren't noticing any structural issues with the frame itself, I'd recommend buying replacement pads. Sennheiser headphones tend to sound the best with original pads, in my opinion, and the Game Zero pads are designed with a specific contour that helps with the seal.
