How does this MSI compared to the Gigabyte Z170 SLI? This is the Gigabyte I'm referring to: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B012AQGL4A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Power supply is overpriced, get this instead ($865):

http://www.amazon.com.mx/EVGA-SuperNOVA-750-Fuente-poder/dp/B00K85X23O/

you should get 8GB of RAM ($760).

http://www.amazon.com.mx/Crucial-Ballistix-Sport-Memoria-registrar/dp/B00MTSWG30/

Cheaper GTX 970, different brand but still good ($6659):

http://www.amazon.com.mx/Gigabyte-GeForce-Tarjeta-gr%C3%A1fica-video/dp/B00NH5T1UA/

Cheaper motherboard, different brand but still good, supports SLI ($2999):

http://www.amazon.com.mx/Gigabyte-GA-Z170XP-SLI-DDR4-SDRAM-Celeron-Pentium/dp/B012AQGL4A/

That gets your price down to $22,395. To go lower than that, I think you need to switch to a Haswell DDR3 system instead. Right now Skylake (intel 6000 series) is still very expensive.

Can you recommend me one?

I found this one.

I have the Z170XP-SLI from Gigabyte. You think the mobo is faulty?

If you're going to get a 6700k, might aswell get a Z170 board. There's also the non-overclockable i7-6700, which would be a better match for the H170 board

This'd be the minimum board i'd recommend for a 6700k: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-2-Way-DualBIOS-Motherboards-GA-Z170XP-SLI/dp/B012AQGL4A/

I have almost the same build, but a different motherboard. I found 1tb of storage to be a little low, but, then again, I tend to hoard games lol.

Good build, I'd recommend.

I'd say that's a good motherboard but maybe a little more expensive than what you need. If you have Amazon Prime, you can get this one for $99 and it is very similar.

In terms of brand, Asus, Gigabyte and MSI are safe bets. ASRock is a more budget brand so you might be making some compromises in terms of features, durability and customer service (never had one so I can't say much about them). You don't seem to be on a tight budget so the one you chose is probably fine.

In terms of features at this level, you want a Z170 chipset for your overclockable cpu. The benefit of RAM speed at 3400mhs is very marginal. You can buy 2400mhz RAM and save $50. Be aware that you will have to overclock the RAM from your BIOS manually so that it actually works at that speed. That's not difficult, though.

If you think at some point you'll want to get a second GTX1080 to do SLI, you need the motherboard to support it. Otherwise, you don't need it.

Other than that, you wanna have enough SATA ports, enough USB3.0 ports and M.2 and USB 3.1 are nice things to have looking forward. Most mobos in your price range will have that, though.

So if I were getting this mobo, I would be good with getting just 1 8GB stick? It has 4 slots and says it's "dual channel". Does that make a difference at all?
