Just my opinion, I am no expert, but these seem like the best choices as they are popular, and consideration how much work it would take to design them.
Also check the most popular on Amazon, Newegg and PC part picker.

CPUs from one socket look almost the same right?
So a LGA 1151 and AM3+ CPUs.

For RAM, classic PCB with black chips, maybe another one with a very simple heatspreader in different colors, as it would take quite a lot of work to create realistic heatspreaders for little benefit IMO.

Any HDD, they all look similar.

For SSDs, Samsung are the most popular and very simple to do.

Three most popular CPU coolers prolly are CRYORIG H7, Hyper 212 EVO, and Corsair H100i, maybe with addition of a single fan AIO like Corsair H55.

GPUs are tougher:

I am pretty sure the T420 has an express card slot so you can buy an adapter which allows you too plug into that slot. This allows you to use a desktop graphics card with the laptop. The adapter is 50 dollars on eBay a gpu that I would recommend for you would be a 1050ti or an and Rx 560 which would cost 100 to 150 dollars. Then all you need is a desktop power supply which would be like 30-50 dollars.

Adapter: You can select with or with power supply

Tom's Hardware always keeps an up-to-date list of their favorite graphics cards by price range.

The GeForce 1050ti seems to be a popular choice in the ~$150 range:

Down around $100 looks like the AMD RX460 is popular:

I'm very open to suggestions and this looks great.

Questions though:

That CPU costs twice as much. I'm happy to get it if you think it's worth it since I don't want a bottle neck, but is it really worth an extra $100?

The GPU you've listed is 2GB. For an extra $15 is it worth getting the 4GB version?

I appreciate the input.

So turns out removing the old drivers did nothing. I also can not get you a picture of the inside. Here is the card if it will help. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K1JVCRE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If your looking for a pretty good, cheap option the Gigabyte RX 460 4gig is 90 after rebate on amazon.

I am needing to upgrade my graphics card, but am unsure of whether essentially any graphics card can replace an old one or are there size differences in different cards that could cause a new one to not fit my current case. I wish I could provide details on my current graphics card to compare, but I lost the information on my build and apparently never made an account through CyberpowerPC, even though I ordered it from there. This is the card I'm looking to upgrade too though: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K1JVCRE/ref=psdc_284822_t1_B01K1JV83C

You can get an RX 460 4GB model for $120 new on Amazon, or even a little below $100 second hand, you simply won't get 4GB VRAM at a better price - https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01K1JVCRE/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1493140591&sr=8-1&keywords=rx+460+4gb

On the upper end, you can get an RX 470 on sale or second hand for $180 or a few bucks less - one on Amazon for $179.99 right now - https://www.amazon.com/XFX-RX-470P436BM-Radeon-3DisplayPort-PCI-Express/dp/B01JTNU652/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1493140663&sr=1-4&keywords=rx+470

RX 470 is also 4GB but is otherwise the better card by a fair distance, but they each seem to be by a fair distance the best bang-for-buck GPU's in the $100-200 region around at the moment. I would imagine both would have a good deal of lifespan as well, the 470 moreso of course.

I was thinking of something like this.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K1JVCRE/?tag=xtremegaminer-20

Would my PC be able to run with this and not cause too many issues you think?

u/fm79 · 1 pointr/buildapc

That sounds about right, the RX 480 card is right around $215ish. The reason the linked one is good is because of the sale and $20 rebate.

I haven't done a lot of research on other cards, so I don't want to lead you down the wrong path. The other suggestion on the RX 460 4G is still good. Here is one on Amazon - should be back in stock in a couple days.

u/TechLord22 · 1 pointr/buildapc

An RX 460 4GB card looks great and has FreeSync.
This one: https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Radeon-Windforce-Graphics-GV-RX460WF2OC-4GD/dp/B01K1JVCRE/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483391255&sr=1-1&keywords=rx+460+4gb is from gigabyte and uses on 75 watts. You also don't need any power connectors as it draws solely from the PCIE slot.

u/Ale4444 · 1 pointr/Gamingcirclejerk

as others have said, prices suck right now, but 1.5 years back I got this card for my friend's build for just 90 USD, it only runs the latest games nowadays at 50fps, but it was a great budget card at the time and has served him well.

too bad its unvailable right now, but there are other cards like it you can get. as others have said as well, it is best to currently wait, do research, learn the power points of GPUs and what is important, and then when the market stabilizes, do a good build.

for your needs, anything alightly more powerful than that one will do, and theres a ton of options. a good thing to compare cards is to use websites like userbenchmark to compare cards and see what cards are at what level.

u/monsters2343 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

well for starters i know you are not getting this from newegg but the gigabyte you have linked is listed at $10 more than the 4gb version on newegg so that would be an automatic no buy in my view.

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Radeon-Windforce-Graphics-GV-RX460WF2OC-4GD/dp/B01K1JVCRE

That is the in stock gigabyte 4gb rx 460 it is still $20 more than the same one on newegg so sadly you are screwed either way.

As for the asus it checks out on new egg at the same price. I would go with that one or if you still wanted to spend $140 or so

https://www.amazon.com/STRIX-Radeon-Gaming-Graphics-STRIX-RX460-O4G-GAMING/dp/B01K1JVQI4/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1473654194&sr=1-1&keywords=ASUS+Dual-Fan+Radeon+Rx+460+4GB+OC+Edition

That is the asus but in 4gb version.

All in all they are roughly the same, I would suggest going with the 4gb version if you have that as you did list a $140 gpu.
