I have a 3D printer, so thats what I made all the casing and plastic parts with. Other things I used I had laying around the house like some screws, metal bar for bracing, and a low tension bungee strap.

Full disclosure...I'm not an electrical or mechanical engineer...just a restless new dad that likes to experiment. So, if you do use these parts and/or try to make something like this, please do so at your own discretion.

Oh, wow. Thank you for this!

And now to admit how much I really don't know.

  1. 12? I'm getting that from your recommendation of the 12v motor.
    1. And I was thinking this one, because I see its no-load speed is 100 rpm, and I'm thinking having it rotate a ~5 pound drum will probably decrease its available speed.
  2. I don't know, I didn't know this was a thing. From the specs of the one I linked, it says 1.1Amp.
  3. 2? Forward only and drive only, if that's how that works.
    1. I don't need it to go in reverse, and I figure it will slow itself down as the drum finishes rotating.

Cool idea! You'll probably want to hook up a DC motor to a RasPi or Arduino, which will then be sent commands VIA USB from your computer.

You'll have to do your own research on how to get the command from twitch to your controller, but it sounds like a fun project, and I'm sure there are code projects available free online that will have done much of the work.
